Science Says, The Weirder You Are, The More Likely You Are To Find Love

The weirder you are, the more likely to find your true love- Backed by science

Your mum was right. The best thing is to be yourself, in all your weird, unconventional glory.

Science Says, The Weirder You Are, The More Likely You Are To Find Love

Being weird โ€“ or โ€˜non-conformistโ€™, in fancier terms โ€“ makes you more attractive to the opposite sex, a study in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin reports.

Researchers studied people who identified as heterosexual or bisexual, asking them to select people from online dating websites, describe their ideal partners, and picture dates with people they had just met.

They found that both men and women showed a preference for partners who didnโ€™t conform, through clothing, life decisions or opinions.

Essentially, this shows that being a rule-breaker or a bit weird can seriously work to your advantage, dating-wise.

The researchers say this goes to show that the old stereotype of what men like โ€“ the submissive, girl-next-door type โ€“ just isnโ€™t true.

Theyโ€™re now urging women to let their freak flag fly a bit. The studyโ€™s lead author says: โ€˜Iโ€™m intrigued by the notion of the โ€œgirls-night-outโ€ and how many women feel as though they can be more unguarded without men around โ€“ more relaxed, crasser, more honest, funnier.

โ€˜And I keep thinking, โ€˜Why are you keeping this good stuff to yourselves? Men would love it!โ€™

Letโ€™s get weird.
