What To Expect In Therapy

Sitting with your thoughts, often with prolonged periods of silence. It gives you the opportunity to contemplate and process.

• Therapy isn’t just about venting. You will be encouraged to make goals together and even get home assignments. They will help you stay accountable.

• You might start to feel better right away, but sometimes the important work starts later.

• A judgement-free space. Your therapist will accept you just as you are.

• The therapist’s job is not to solve problems for you. Their role is to empower you by increasing insight and encouraging healthy behaviors.

• You might not “vibe” with your therapist. If after a few sessions, you’re feeling a disconnect, bring this to your therapist’s attention or consider finding a different one.
