You are not a loner – you are taking time out to be an independent individual.
You are not being reclusive – you are being introspective.
You are not being anti-social – you are giving yourself space for some much needed self-analysis.
Replace any guilt you feel if people say “you’ve changed” with the caterpillar mindset. Yes, I have changed. I’m allowed to change. Change is good!
You don’t have to stay the same person forever because that’s who everyone expects you to be, and it’s okay to take time away from people to work out exactly who this new person is. Anyone who values you will understand and accept that you’ve simply taken time away to breathe. And when you’re ready, you’ll return to the rest of us a recuperated and rejuvenated version of yourself so take as much time as you need.
The world will be here waiting for you when you’re ready to come back.
