“Would you Hold his Hand in Public?” – Mind Talk

"Would you Hold his Hand in Public?" - Mind Talk

โ€œIโ€™ll be keeping your head up, darling.โ€ It is difficult to be surrounded by people who are consistently conformed to a normalcy that makes them feel unwanted, unfit and uninspired. I cannot say that I have never been a victim of this, but it is often a choice to hate what you donโ€™t understand, love what you cannot have and be indifferent about things that donโ€™t hold your interest. That is all pretty obvious. But why the homosexuals? Why hate on us when we are human, just as you are?

I am the billboard of gay pride at my school because to my knowledge, I am the only โ€œout-of-the-closetโ€ candidate. I find no solace in being the only one who is okay with not being โ€œnormal;โ€ I am rather distressed that so many young people, evolving and on the rise, are growing in a world where they are afraid to express themselves freely. Media no longer portrays homosexuality (exclusively) as a terrible thing. There is hate, yes, and there will always be hate โ€“ itโ€™s the same as religion and race, we will never be rid of it. Even more so, it makes me feel like an outsider, an alien and allows people to treat me as such. I can take the comments and crude behaviour because Iโ€™ve been out for four years and these people are all imbeciles anyway. But that beautiful soul who is so confused because they feel attracted to the same sex sees this happening and clams up, hiding the pearl they are on the inside. What happens to that pearl? It disintegrates over time and they never truly inhabit the person they were always meant to be. And Iโ€™m sorry, but that is heart breaking on a thousand levels and many more besides.

What many heterosexual men misunderstand about me is that I am unlike them in more than my sexual preferences. I am not perverted and ready to tell the world how sexually aroused I am all the time, nor how endowed I am, be it well or otherwise. I have had experiences that would haunt their little dreams at night and scare them in the daylight. It is because of these that I realised I only wish to share my inner self with a significant other, when the time is right and I feel secure. And to that boy who thinks I want his junk โ€“ that ship wasnโ€™t even in the harbour, so it didnโ€™t have a chance to sail away. Please get over yourself, you are embarrassing.

And most importantly, I am flamboyant, not feminine. I firmly believe masculine and feminine should be abolished. Such social norms are suffocating us and we are becoming a judgemental nation, where a man canโ€™t wear a decent pair of heels and a girl canโ€™t be seen in anything but cute little shoes and those short shorts. There is a fine line between flamboyant and feminine, and although I may overstep this line sometimes, donโ€™t get me wrong โ€“ Iโ€™m not a woman. And no, I donโ€™t want to be with those feminine gay boys either; not because they are an embarrassment, but because that just isnโ€™t what I like. I look up to such open, proud guys because they encompass themselves in a way that the closed-minded, pathetic and petty nation cannot understand and will never accept. Some idiots are just a force to be reckoned with.

I donโ€™t want to scroll through Facebook anymore and hear how some homosexual couple was burnt with scalding hot water or how yet another teenager committed suicide because of something as trivial as his sexuality. We are losing valuable, beautiful lives to something we can so easily accept. It is not your life, as a heterosexual individual, and you have no right to interfere in a homosexualโ€™s life, no matter how you and they are related or their age in comparison to yours.

sexuality is something built into the DNA and cannot be changed; there is no โ€œconvertingโ€ ritual out there because how can praying a few times change the code in which your genes reside? Tell me again how intelligent that sounded in your head, and how stupid it sounds now as you read these words. If you want your son or daughter to remain faithful, get them to do a better job than you are doing, because if Godโ€™s love is unconditional and everlasting, he can forgive homosexuality the same as murder or premarital sex. What so many religious people forget is that all sins are viewed the same before the eyes of the Lord. I know that and I am not even that religious.

If you can take one thing from this, I want it to be that when you support a homosexualโ€™s lifestyle you are helping them along. Even in our world where gay rights are human rights and the media is proud to be gay-friendly, it is gut-wrenching to come out as gay and heartbreaking to not be accepted for it. The moment you tell a gay person that they are confused, that they are an abomination, that they only exist to fuck like bunnies and never repent, you are only sending them further and further down the line. And I donโ€™t know about you, but that isnโ€™t exactly the very human thing to do in a world that is already so inhumane.

To hate on heterosexuals was not the purpose of this post. However, the hate is primarily from our heterosexual brothers and sisters, and it saddens me that I have to watch my Pโ€™s and Qโ€™s because so many people arenโ€™t okay with homosexuality. Stop viewing differences as issues; rather see them as opportunities to evolve. Homosexuality is not a stepping stone to overcome when climbing to greatness; it is the mountain you seat yourself upon when you know in yourself that you are great.

Forgiveness After The Storm

The muse of poetry in its depths stalls the ensue of thee,Drowning in the sparse spectacle of hope left, one dives into the waters of misery.Triabilsing in the painful stance of existence, death in its allure creeps behind,To be or not be in the bane of tormenting breaths, in their truth one seems to find,

The Aesthetic Epidemic: Understanding the Roots of Lookism

The Aesthetic Epidemic

We care about more than just ourselves – we care about our loved ones, our communities, and the world around us. We are affected by tragic events, especially when a child is murdered, regardless of where it happens. It deeply impacts us and makes us feel disheartened. Moral evils raise doubts about the goodness of the world and the value of existence, especially for those who believe in a benevolent deity. However, anyone can contemplate the purpose and value of the universe in light of such evils. We may not need to worry about the value of the Universe and instead focus on finding value in our own lives or the lives of our loved ones. The concept of value is subjective and can be created by us.

The important question is what we should value or find pleasure in. Some people may try to ignore moral evil by focusing only on their own lives and loved ones, but this narrow perspective is unsatisfying for most. I
