1. “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” by Douglas Adams

Books for people who do not like reading

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is one of the best books for adults who don’t like to read at all. On top of that, if you are a fan of science fiction, fantasy or comedy, then you are absolutely sorted with this book.

The book revolves around Arthur Dent who is trying to find his way through the galaxy after Earth was destroyed by aliens. His friend, Ford Prefect saves him from dying on Earth, and together they journey through space, with a book titled “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”.

Books for people who do not like reading

The story revolves around a struggling novelist and single mom going through a very messy divorce when she is confused to be a contract killer. Before she knows it, she has agreed to assassinate a problematic husband for a large amount of money.

Elle Cosimano takes readers on a rollercoaster ride full of hilarious moments and just enough craziness. Our main character isn’t exactly thrilled about offing anyone, but who can say no to extra money when dealing with a nosy ex?

This is one of my personal favorites, and undoubtedly one of the best books for people who do not like reading.

3. “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Moriarty

Books for people who do not like reading

Alice faints and wakes up on the gym floor surrounded by her friends, thoroughly confused. However, she isn’t alone, as she’s carrying her first child and she fears that her fall might have harmed her baby. However, that’s far from the truth.

Alice is 39 years old, has three kids and is on the verge of a divorce, and instead of 1998, it’s actually 2008. Where has the last decade gone, and why can’t she remember any of it?

This book has achieved cult status for a reason, and once you read it, you will understand why Liane Moriarty is one of the most beloved authors of all time, and why this is considered to be one of the books for people who do not like reading.

Jo Kuan, a 17-year-old girl works as a lady’s maid for the unkind daughter of one of Atlanta’s richest men. But when the sun goes down, she moonlights as an anonymous writer for “Dear Miss Sweetie”, a newspaper column that offers advice to Southern women of high social status.

When her column goes viral, she uses her writing skills to talk about the bad things of society, however, she does not anticipate the backlash she would get for challenging societal norms related to gender and race.

One of the best books to read if you hate reading, and trust me, this will not disappoint you.

5. “I’ve Got Your Number” by Sophie Kinsella

Books for people who do not like reading

I enjoy reading Sophie Kinsella books, I don’t care if anyone judges me for that. All of her books just brighten my day every time I sit with one.

Poppy Wyatt had never felt so lucky in her life. She is about to tie the knot with Magnus Tavish, her dream man, however, one fine afternoon, her fairy tale world begins to crumble. Not only did she misplace her engagement ring during a hotel fire drill; worse still was the fact that someone stole her phone amidst the chaos.

While pacing restlessly up and down the lobby, she catches sight of a discarded mobile phone inside a dustbin, and starts to use it so that she can give her contact details to the hotel in case they find her ring.

Well, perfect except that Sam Roxton, a businessman doesn’t agree since he owns that phone and wants it back from Poppy who has been going through his messages and personal information. How they try to one-up each other makes up the rest of the story.

6. “Dear Martin” by Nic Stone

Books for people who do not like reading

The novel follows Justyce McAllister, an honor roll student who is all set to go to an Ivy League college is arrested by a white police officer, threatening to destroy his life and everything he has worked for.

With his classmates ridiculing him, Justyce begins writing letters to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. asking for advice and answers. The story takes another turn when Justyce and his friend get into a skirmish with a police officer, except this time shots are fired causing someone to die.

In the aftermath of this incident gaining national attention on every news channel out there, unfortunately it is Justyce who receives the most blame.

One of the most phenomenal books for adults who don’t like to read, without a doubt.

For fifteen years, he has been looking for both Maura and what actually caused his twin brother’s death. And now it appears as though he might eventually find what he has been searching for.

8. “Humans of New York: Stories” by Brandon Stanton

Books for people who do not like reading

Originally a photo blog, Stanton became an internet sensation when he started captioning simple stories about the anonymous people in front of his lens.

From strange to heart-rending to hilarious to disturbing, this is one of the best books for non-readers. It serves as a cool reminder that there are stories behind every stranger we encounter and you can’t judge a book—or a person—by their cover.
