Thank you for this post. I get it.
What do you do when a person wont own up to what they did, are lying to themselves and others about how wronged they were, and is playing the victim in order to gain sympathy and empathy?
Sarah i think sometimes people don't own up or admit things because they are afraid of losing people or of being looked at badly. So i feel like the best way to deal with this is to let them know that you love them and that as long as they are honest you will be there and help them. Let them know that by lying about something that you already know they are lying about they are pushing you away. Just keep telling them that you are here and that you expect honesty. Eventually they will be honest.
Tell them to have a nice day and walk away. If/when they change, they will understand why you did that and will apologize. If they never change, you are better off for leaving them and moving on.
It is important to put your self first.
Walking away sometimes is what you need to do for them you cannot help someone that does not want to change.
