Enlisting in the army in 1941, he courageously fought in five major battles during World War II. After returning from war, he embarked on a different kind of mission, dedicating his Sundays to preaching at First United Methodist Church.

His selfless acts of service touched countless lives, but there was still one unfulfilled dream lingering in his heart: earning his high school diploma.

His dream of obtaining a high school diploma dates back to 1948 when he passed his GED. However, the school he attended only until the third grade had no record of his attendance, preventing him from receiving a diploma.
