Why Do People Dissociate?
Dissociation is a very common coping method, usually for those who have PTSD or have been through trauma.
It is a way of disconnecting with reality so you don’t have to feel all the negative emotions/flashbacks associated with your trauma. It can also happen during the trauma, for the same reasons – it disconnects you from what is happening so that you feel less physical and mental pain.
