Writing as Meditation: How to Enter the Flow State Through Journaling

Writing as Meditation: How to Enter the Flow State Through Journaling

ย Writing is an extraordinary meditation practice. It helps us understand ourselves and reflect on our behavior. It makes us wiser and awakens our spiritual side. Writing can help us reach mindfulness easier, and increases our awareness of the world around us.

Journaling is a great way to start meditation. It keeps tracks of your activities and gives you the chance to reflect on them. It does not take long either. Ten minutes per day can make a big change in your life and bring amazing benefits. If you already have meditation incorporated in your daily routine, adding ten minutes of writing after that wonโ€™t do any harm. All you need is a notebook, a pen, a timer, and motivation to get started!

Here are some ways in which you can start. Take a look at the following tips, and donโ€™t hesitate to leave us a comment if you have anything to add.

  1. Find a Quiet Environment

It is usually recommended to meditate in the morning, when cars honking and people talking wonโ€™t interrupt you. If that is not possible, find a quiet place to start meditating during the day. It is utterly important to focus on your thoughts, and being constantly distracted is not going to help. You could use your bedroom if at home. Make sure you lock the door for ten minutes and ask your family not to interrupt by knocking.

If you are at the office, lock the door as well. It is not going to hurt anybody if you are on a break. Play some classical music, sit down on the floor, close your eyes, drink some water, and enjoy the next ten minutes of quietness and distress. Pay attention to your breathing technique, and your body sensation. Feel the warmth and openness of the environment and emerge in it.

  1. Set the Timer for 10 Minutes

Now open your eyes, set the timer for ten minutes, grab your paper and pen, and start writing. You might be wondering what. Anything! These ten minutes are specially designed for you. Most people write about their day and how they felt in relation to it. Journaling is something personal, something magic, something special. You can write whatever is in your head and nobody is going to know, or judge.

Donโ€™t stop and reflect on the pages written during these ten minutes. Just write unstoppably โ€“ whatever goes through your mind! There is no wrong way to approach this.

  1. Breathe in, Breathe out

Now that the timer stopped, take time to breathe out your thoughts, and bring in the refreshment. Let go of the negative emotions and feelings you might have thought about, and inhale positivity and success.

Now take your time to read back through what you have written. Try to understand how your mind perceives the world around you. If needed, underline phrases that you have trouble understanding and come back to it later. Can you remember what you felt when writing those lines? Was it anxiety, fear, panic? Was it an enlightening and positive process? By answering these questions, you will understand the spots within yourself that you need to work on.

  1. Reflection

Now itโ€™s time for reflection! Every time you finish a journaling session, ask yourself how it helped you. Ask yourself why you would do it again. Most of the times, it is not enough for us to just do things. It is important to understand why we do them, and how they help us. Otherwise, whatโ€™s the point of doing them in the first place anyways?

Alexandra Tonkovich, freelance writer at one of the best resume writing services online, shares her opinion. โ€œI love journaling so much! I usually write down a conclusion at the end of each process, and in the conclusion, I include what I have learned during that dayโ€™s journaling session. It helps me keep track of my thoughts and progress!โ€

  1. Make a Wish

It feels so good to be able to make a powerful wish at the end of each session! It gives you an incredible feeling of conquering the world! More than that, it sends a positive message to the Universe. You make your own destiny, and you can choose the way in which youโ€™re going to live. If you wish to live purposefully, just ask the Universe, and it will eventually show you the way. Ending journaling by making a wish is a strong progress towards making a change within yourself.

Wrapping it Up

Journaling is a wonderful way to meditate. You can focus on your thoughts, visualize them, and write them down eventually. Meditation should be incorporated in your daily routine, if itโ€™s not already. It helps you understand yourself better, and develops spiritual awakening within your senses. Make sure you leave time for meditation every day!

We care about more than just ourselves – we care about our loved ones, our communities, and the world around us. We are affected by tragic events, especially when a child is murdered, regardless of where it happens. It deeply impacts us and makes us feel disheartened. Moral evils raise doubts about the goodness of the world and the value of existence, especially for those who believe in a benevolent deity. However, anyone can contemplate the purpose and value of the universe in light of such evils. We may not need to worry about the value of the Universe and instead focus on finding value in our own lives or the lives of our loved ones.
