I Think One Of The Hardest Things Is Watching Someone You Love Drift

I think one of the hardest things is watching someone you love drift and there is nothing you can do but stare blankly trying desperately to hold on tighter to something you’re not able to save. “I really do love you, you know,” was one of our last exchanges. And he kissed me. “I know you do and you don’t deserve this.” He was so much more than the sad story it turned into. He was my loudest laugh. My biggest smile. My best day even on the worst ones. A best friend I wasn’t even looking for, He was the love I wanted so desperately to last longer than it did. And looking back and reflecting on all that’s changed I’ll always remember him for everything he did right.
