A Different Version Of You Exists

A Different Version Of You Exists

A different version of you exists in the minds of everyone who knows you.

I read a book that blew my mind. The main character goes crazy when he realizes no one really knows him. The gist is that the person you think of as ‘yourself’ exists only for you, and even you don’t really know who that is. Every person you meet, have a relationship with, or make eye contact with on the street creates a version of ‘you’ in their heads. You’re not the same person to your mom, your dad, or your siblings, as you are to your coworkers, your neighbors, or your friends. There are a thousand different versions of yourself out there, in people’s minds. A ‘you’ exists in each version, and yet your ‘you’, ‘yourself’, isn’t really a ‘someone’ at all.

Love Comes When Manipulation Stops: Joyce Brothers Quote

โ€œLove comes when manipulation stops; when you think more about the other person than about his or her reactions to you. When you dare to reveal yourself fully. When you dare to be vulnerable.โ€

Joyce Brothers

The pure form of love is realized when we withdraw from the science of manipulation and concentrate on the core of genuine interaction. Joyce Brothers quote captures this notion convincingly when she points out that real love blooms if we give priority to the other personโ€™s intrinsic welfare over our own desires or projections. Rabindranath Tagore

“Love does not claim possession, but gives freedom.” This profound Rabindranath Tagore quote speaks to the very essence of what love truly is. Love is sometimes thought of as a chain that binds two people together into an inseparable unit, causing one to lose their sense of individuality.
