New Study Suggests Carbohydrate Consumption Could Impact Facial Attractiveness

In a surprising revelation, a recent study conducted in France suggests that carbohydrate consumption could potentially affect a person’s facial attractiveness. The research, published in the journal “Plos One,” delved into the impact of carb-rich diets on the perception of attractiveness by the opposite sex.

Led by researchers at the University of Montpellier, the study involved 104 heterosexual men and women who were invited to participate in a breakfast experiment. Participants were divided into two groups, with one group consuming a high-carb menu while the other group was offered a low-glycemic alternative.

Following the meal, photos of the participants were taken two hours later, and volunteers were asked to rate each other’s facial attractiveness. The results revealed a significant trend: individuals who consumed the high-carb breakfast received lower facial attractiveness scores compared to those who consumed the low-glycemic alternative.

Moreover, participants who reported typically consuming high-carb breakfasts and snacks in their daily lives also received lower ratings in terms of facial attractiveness. These findings suggest a potential correlation between immediate and chronic refined carbohydrate consumption and perceived facial attractiveness.
