How to Write Effectively

How to Write Effectively

Being a writer isn’t just owning a pen and a pad of paper.

Any of us can be a writer but not all of us can be a GOOD writer. What is a definition of a good writer to you? Someone who inspires or perhaps someone who empowers people to be a better version of themselves. Yes? In Creative Writing, we are taught about proper grammar usage, correct punctuation marks, spelling, capitalization of the letters, appropriate vocabulary, and so on. It’s not just jotting down your thoughts and that’s it voila—your so called obra maestra! Heck no! I’ve read numerous of articles from aspiring writers, as I said all of us can be a writer, even your neighbor, or the beggar on the street as long as he is literate enough but not all has this kind of magic to touch the readers’ hearts; not everyone has the passion and patience like true writers have. Anyhow, I commend those people who have tried to write on some certain websites for they are courageous enough to share their deepest thoughts even if that means flaunting their flaws. But just imagine a writer who has just published a book or novel, imagine how many sleepless nights and frustrating days he had to finish his masterpiece; sometimes it takes years before a writer could finish his book. It has undergone with scrutiny proofreading. There, I finally said it—proofreading, let’s talk about how important it is in your writing.

When I was in elementary, I represented our school in Journalism- Proofreading English contest (there were two kinds of languages, our native and English language), as a youngster, I have taught to use the proper usage of grammar, correct punctuation, spelling, and all the things that are necessary on proofreading .I began to be a keen-observer, I could find mistakes on your article in one to two scan of reading. But in all honesty, even in my own writings, every now and then, after I published it and all, I could still find a mistake and that was horrifying!  I am saying, even if I couldn’t have perfected my own writing at least you could have to. Too many people these days seem to be more focal on impressing or pleasing others by using their flowery/deep vocabularies which do not make sense that sometimes make the idea of the write up diffusive, as a result, the message of the essay becomes ambiguous to the readers. Remember: write to express not to impress.

So you want to be an effective writer, here are  the things that you should take note when you are writing:

  • Focus on the subject of your piece. You have to consider who your readers are and the purpose why are you writing.
  • Avoid redundancy of the words. You can use synonyms.
  • Grammar is VERY IMPORTANT! I was disappointed to one writer who said that writing is not all about having a perfect grammar. I don’t know what you are talking about but as a writer you should have known that proper usage of grammar is extremely important! Attend to some workshop if possible!
  • Still on grammar: consistency of the tenses of the verb is awfully important.
  • Be mindful with capitalization of the letters, punctuation marks, and spelling as well.
  • Express your writing in an eloquent way. It’s a must!
  • In other words, proofreading is necessary so that you can deliver your ideas effectively.

Once you hit that publish button, a vast amount of people all over the world could read your article. Various people who have wide experience on writing more than you. So to avoid being called “dull-witted”, scan your writing, read it slowly and thoroughly and make sure you have conveyed your message rigorously.

Though, I have written several articles and short stories, I can’t consider myself as a writer yet, maybe I could say that I am more like a  frustrated writer or perhaps an aspiring writer because I am still in the process of cultivating my inner-self so I could  share gradually my thoughts and feelings to the readers. As a frustrated writer, whenever I finish an article, I do get this exhilarating feeling to click that Publish button so I could present the world my mind but I have come to realize how important proofreading is! Hence, practice makes perfect. Writing is one of the self-gratifying activities that I’ve ever loved. But then, I write to express not to impress. I won’t write just to please you though.

Forgiveness After The Storm

Forgiveness After The Storm

The muse of poetry in its depths stalls the ensue of thee,Drowning in the sparse spectacle of hope left, one dives into the waters of misery.Triabilsing in the painful stance of existence, death in its allure creeps behind,To be or not be in the bane of tormenting breaths, in their truth one seems to find,

The hostility that binds, convulsion in its gloating flair laughs hysterically at the corpse of being,Dreariness to live in its slow burn writhes the only ounce of light left to see.The void of embracing the freshness of unadulterated air forges to question the beauty,Of living a life that could lead in the lightness of radiance and the smiles of unbridled glee.

The trueness of being lapses in the oscillation of turbulence and the sea of calm,Yet the tides of uncertain syllables that breed animosity render the sou

The Aesthetic Epidemic: Understanding the Roots of Lookism

The Aesthetic Epidemic

We care about more than just ourselves – we care about our loved ones, our communities, and the world around us. We are affected by tragic events, especially when a child is murdered, regardless of where it happens. It deeply impacts us and makes us feel disheartened. Moral evils raise doubts about the goodness of the world and the value of existence, especially for those who believe in a benevolent deity. However, anyone can contemplate the purpose and value of the universe in light of such evils. We may not need to worry about the value of the Universe and instead focus on finding value in our own lives or the lives of our loved ones. The concept of value is subjective and can be created by us.

The important question is what we should value or find pleasure in. Some people may try to ignore moral evil by focusing only on their own lives and loved ones, but this narrow perspective is unsatisfying for most. I

How To Remain Centered And Calm In Face Of Difficulty

How to Write Effectively

My life is a mess and I have nothing to be grateful about! I witness myself say this phrase from time to time, where life plonks us into the desperation of ebb and flow of wilderness and things not going in our favour.

It is easy to say we are grateful and in complete balance when things are going well and life feels like the warm embrace of the sun shining on a Sunday morning. But the real test lies in remaining grateful and centred when life feels like spinning out of control.

While it is easier said than done, here are some reminders that might help you get through the days that feel like a burden –

15 Most Liberating Thoughts For Someone Who Needs It

How to Write Effectively

Our life unfolds in a succession of revelations of who we are. It is when we sit down and repeat the same sentence in our head over and over again, in every action we perform, every activity we indulge ourselves in, does it indulges into our existence as a habit.

The key to having a sense of liberation is allowing life to flow through, not forcing anything and more essentially not resisting change. I believe that our life improves in the direct proportionality of how often we are exposed to situations where are forced to challenge our age-old beliefs and counterfeited perceptions and seek the greater version of ourselves. When we get too comfortable in the comfort zones we build for ourselves, we do not grow into the people we are meant to be. Sadly most people embrace change only when metamorphosis is the less painful and only possible option.

I know that
