These stages may be non-linear except for the final few thriving stages

1. Shock โ€“ how is this happening? Is this real? Who are they? Was it all fake and lies?
2. Denial โ€“ Therapy + Education on NPD -reading, online research
3. Anger โ€“ Rage โ€“ you were tricked and essentially robbed
4. Sadness โ€“ Mourning โ€“ what should have been and feeling like a victim
5. Anger โ€“ Rage โ€“ realizing the huge impact of the damages done
6. Depression (could include self destructive behaviors, self harm, suicide ideation) โ€“ Isolation โ€“ Sadness โ€“ feeling alone and misunderstood, shame, regrets
7. Self care โ€“ setting boundaries โ€“ limited contact or none with ex โ€“ not wanting to feel like a victim or shame-feeling a shift in life, needs and wants
8. Anger not as intense sadness โ€“ worry; not wanting to meet another narc
9. Self love Confidence โ€“ Setting boundaries more
10. Re-writing narcs lies with truth about yourself and your goodness
11. Accepting truth and damage narc has done as reality โ€“ more grief
12. Recurring anger rage intermittently if in custody battle โ€“ injustice grief
13. Growing confidence โ€“ trusting gut instinct- self skills more confidence
14. Reconnecting with true self โ€“ personality, laugh, sparkle
15. Investing in hobbies, interests, rediscovering fun + joy
16. Feeling empowered + agency over new life
17. Having more fun and feeling hopeful about life again
18. Recognizing triggers and dealing with them better โ€“ self love
19. Setting boundaries trusting self and gut again fully
20. Not wanting to waste time and focusing on the good you have in life.
