These stages may be non-linear except for the final few thriving stages
1. Shock – how is this happening? Is this real? Who are they? Was it all fake and lies?
2. Denial – Therapy + Education on NPD -reading, online research
3. Anger – Rage – you were tricked and essentially robbed
4. Sadness – Mourning – what should have been and feeling like a victim
5. Anger – Rage – realizing the huge impact of the damages done
6. Depression (could include self destructive behaviors, self harm, suicide ideation) – Isolation – Sadness – feeling alone and misunderstood, shame, regrets
7. Self care – setting boundaries – limited contact or none with ex – not wanting to feel like a victim or shame-feeling a shift in life, needs and wants
8. Anger not as intense sadness – worry; not wanting to meet another narc
