People don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.

People don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.
-Friedrich Nietzsche
People aren’t born averse to having their illusion(s) destroyed. They LEARN to emotionally NEED their illusion(s) to feel safe and secure (from danger and shame). Thus freedom from the aversion for those averse, and the path to preventing the aversion being learned by generations to come, is the same: we must change how we learn to be persons so as to not learn to be persons who depend on illusions. Like Confucius alluded to, love without healthy learning becomes a motivational need for the illusion(s). All of our illusions and delusions are learned. We will continue to depend on them until we learn otherwise. ย ย
PS.. the original quote begins “Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth….” So I guess the point is it includes the person who decided to leave that word off their version of the quote.
