I am writing this because I have felt a need to write it and to remember my friend who was always there for me and the one who looked upon me, as I was growing up and was the best friend any kid could ever have.
Even if I didnโt recognize it at the time. Cause I was young enough to not being able to recognize anything.
He was always there, even though I couldnโt see him, and he was always acting in my best interests, even if I couldnโt understand. Iโd like to take some time to share with you our story because if youโre lucky, you might have a friend like this too.
Dear reader, I want you to read his letter first. In June of 1979, I bought a new computer and took my old one to the shop to have everything backed up. Iโd brought the new computer home and had begun restoring my files from my portable hard drive and reinstalling programs when I noticed that there was a file in the Misc. folder that the shopโs technician had created for files with no other place.
One day as I was playing in the backyard I found a box which was a simple cardboard type. My curiosity led me to open it and there it was a letter.
Initially, I thought it was a message my mom had written for me that Iโd never read as intended, but I opened it, and this is what I found:
I hope you are going to find it when youโll grow upโฆ Iโm not great at this writing stuff, but Iโve watched you tinkering with this machine lately, and I think I know how to save this so that youโll find it. Seeing as itโs time for me to go, I want to leave you this last little message.
