“What makes you smile?”
She asked me with a curious sigh.
A gentle breeze, a baby sneeze
The brown birds’ chirp
And a bumble bee
A butterfly fluttering between the trees
Fireflies against the moonlit scene;
These are things which make me smile,
They fill my soul and make me fly.
A newborn pup, a hot coffee mug,
A kitten rolling on the soft red rug,
A doggy wag, a kitten purr,
A child’s soft-toy with silken fur;
These are things which make me smile,
They bring out my innocent baby side.
A sweet round of success, a twinkling of sparkling zest,
An ambition to colourfully give the test,
A moment for my feet to rest, an ambition to colourfully give the test,
The rythmic beat within my chest;
These are things which make me smile,
They set my dormant spirit alight.
Mama’s loving caresse, Papa’s darling embrace,
Didi’s constant lack of space(-,-),
Scent of homemade food,it’s unparalleled taste,
Ma’s efforts, they never go to waste;
These are things which make me smile,
They make my roots within me subside.
A future doing what I love,
Teaching kids about Peace and her dove,
Their chubby giggles and unaware minds,
Their tiny hands grasping half of mine;
These are things which make me smile,
They teach me to be a parent inside.
A gift on an unexpected day, the same things said in a different way,
A tired soul soak up my sun’s ray,
A red rose bejeweled in dew,
The purple-pink of the dawning hue,
The birth of a baby so tiny and new;
These are things which make me smile,
They make me feel so much more alive.
My words leaving an impact, poems written on philosophy or fact,
The magic of the written word,
The flow of our subtle verbs;
These are things which make me smile,
And the one they put on your facial profile:)
