Reasons Committing Your Goals to Writing Is Worth It

“When you write down your ideas you automatically focus your full attention on them. Few if any of us can write one thought and think another at the same time. Thus a pencil and paper make excellent concentration tools.”Michael Leboeuf

Many people don’t write their goals down and, as a result, they spend a lot of time wondering why their life lacks meaning. On the other hand, I have seen people who have taken the challenge and written down every goal and accomplished them beyond expectations. Well, committing your goals doesn’t mean that it is the end of the game. It’s not, but it’s the beginning of a long journey.

Every day we are faced with the question of what to do and what not to do. There are those that live purposely just because they were brought to life. Alternatively, there are those successful people who hunger to achieve success and greatness largely because they take the time to write their goals and work on them.

From observation, those people who write down their goals are more successful than those that don’t. But some may be wondering, is it worth setting goals by writing them down? Here are some benefits attached to writing down your goals that prove it is worth it.

1. It Triggers Action

If you don’t know your goal, you will not achieve anything. Writing your goals down is only the start. You must take action and execute them. Having your goals written down helps you remain focused and determined. Remember, this is a rare opportunity that others have not discovered. So, you need to make it a reality by working towards your goal every day. Always review them from time to time to ensure you are moving in the right direction.

2. Easy to Track Your Progress

When we work hard on something and we fail to see any progress, we get frustrated and the urge to give up becomes strong. You may feel like you made the wrong choice and working yourself to death. But written goals will allow you to track your progress and know where you’re heading. Nick Mitchel, a writing expert at Essays on time shares his opinion, “Tracking your progress allows you to see how far you have come and where you need to accelerate to reach your goals. This creates an opportunity for celebration once you achieve something.”

3. Reminds You of What to Focus On

Sometimes, we get caught up in a rat race where we want to fulfill the short-term goals that seem to be working and lose track of what is important. To ensure you stay focused on the high-priority tasks, write down a reminder that will get you back on track from time to time. You may consider asking yourself: “What have I achieved so far in relation to my goal?” and “Is this getting me ahead?” This will help you stay focused throughout.

4. Compels You to Put More Effort

Having written your goals down, it is easier to refer to them every morning to help you plan what to do next. It becomes mandatory that you need to accomplish them. Similarly, it motivates you and induces extra energy that allows you to put more effort, get out of your comfort zone and push hard until you see some progress. Writing your goals will be the first step in realizing the inner strength and ability you have to be successful.

5. Written Goals Are More Likely to Be Achieved

Every successful person will tell you that they have both short-term and long-term goals and each one of them needs to be achieved. But what is the secret behind their success? Simple, writing down your goals and focusing all their energy on achieving them. It may sound easy, but you have to put in the time, effort, sacrifice, and determination to achieve them. In the end, well-written goals are the beginning of the journey.

Creating goals and writing them down doesn’t take much time. If you want to change your life, then you will find these benefits worth the effort. Just get a pen and paper and write your goals down and don’t forget to keep a reminder to track your progress. Work on them and review your progress recurrently. Finally, you will succeed if you are determined and focused on your goals.

I breathe in the sauntering air that collapses my being,I breathe through the crevices of my existence unseen.Uncertainty in its yonder strikes in bolt on the scars that nobody sees,Redemption that loves, redemption that is free, find me in the depths of my poetry.
