Me, being the over-thinker that I am, sees this question in so many different views, I have a number of answers for it. But, to break it down, I’ll simplify as much as possible.
The first part of this Q&A that I see is โwhat is ‘feeling free’ to you?โ and that’s simple; personally, to have that free feeling, means I found an escape from my stress, worries, and hardships— even if it’s only for a short time and I can let my body relax. Painting, writing, singingโฆanything I can escape reality for a moment, being free is a feeling of peace, comfort and confidence; knowing I could do anything.
Now for the place that I feel free, is the beach. Not because it’s a never-ending view of the world, but because it’s my happy place. The feel of the sand, the sound of the waves, the endless scene of the sea to look out at; it’s peaceful and freeing. Walking along the shore, climbing rocks, chasing the waves, finding little sand and sea creatures and sitting with my laptop at sunset are some of the things I could do countless times and never feel cooped up, chained down or up to my neck with stress.
What’s best I think, is no matter the situation or stress, it all melts away when I share this with my Minions, a couples getaway, family trip, or completely alone; I feel the best, most alive and completely relaxed at the beach. All five senses are restored for me– The smell of the ocean. The sound of the waves. The feel of the sand. The taste of the salty air. The view of the sky touching the ocean. Calming, peaceful, freeing.
