Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSWV, has made contributions in the field of trauma therapy and resilience. She is a trauma therapist, author, lecturer, consultant, radio show host, Psychology Today blogger, and social entrepreneur. Elaine hosts a weekly radio talk show titled “Resilieney Within: Building Resiliency during Unprecedented Times” on VoiceAmerica, where she interviews world leaders, educating others on the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.
As a co-founder and the Director of Innovation at the Trauma Resource Institute, Elaine has played a pivotal role in shaping the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models. These models have had a global impact, having been introduced in over 75 countries and used for prevention, disaster response, and recovery. Elaine’s book, “Building Resiliency to Trauma: The Trauma and Community Resiliency Models (2023),” was selected by the United Nations and Taylor and Francis curated online library as one of the innovations helping meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Ms. Miller-Karas has been a presenter on the international stage, sharing her expertise at events and organizations such as the Ontario Disaster & Emergency Management Conference (DEMCON), Oxford University’s Skoll World Forum, the United Nations, Resiliency 2023, Medscape, Psychotherapy Networker, the Global Fund, and the Centers for Disease Control.
