The Oldest Self-healing Method For Whole-Body Wellness

Do you want to stay stress-free? Positive? Healthy? Then it’s time to begin your journey to whole-body wellness. Here’s a 6-step Ayurvedic guide for self-healing that will improve your physical, mental and spiritual health. You just need 10 MINUTES a day!!

Before discussing the techniques, you must first understand why these self-healing techniques are important. To feel good and healthy you need to achieve a complete harmony of body, soul and mind, that work together to build our health and well-being.

People with a healthy body are well and active Those with a healthy mind are focused and engaged. And those with healthy soul stay fulfilled and content.

So, to maintain a healthy state the body, the soul and the mind function in harmony. And this is the core ayurvedic philosophy. Ayurveda is the world’s oldest system of traditional medicine used even today. Ayurveda means “whole-body”. The treatment is focused on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit on which it beliefs that health and wellness depend.

According to Ayurveda, there are three kinds of bioregulators or dosha  that keep the body alive and running:

Pitta – controls metabolism
Kapha – means strength
Vata – regulates breathing

If all three doshas are aligned with each other, we feel great.

To maintain such balance you must improve your self-healing abilities through proper nutrition, massage, yoga and meditation. Read on to know the six ayurvedic techniques:

In the morning : 6 mins

1. Clean your tongue thoroughly (30 seconds)

Every morning brush your teeth properly and remove any residual plaque from the tongue using a tongue cleaner. It helps get rid of unwanted bacteria (accumulated as a byproduct of the metabolic process and waste elimination by organs like the liver, kidney and gall bladder) that can cause bad breath. Poor oral condition blocks the flow of energy in the body and contributes to various diseases.

2. Rinse your mouth with Sesame Oil (2 mins)

After brushing your teeth and cleaning your tongue, rinse your mouth for 2 minutes with a spoon of sesame oil, spit it out and rinse it with warmer water. Sesame oil, rich in linoleic acid prevents the build-up of dental plaque and tooth decay and gingivitis. This oil has antiviral antifungal and antibacterial properties.

3. Massage your body – 3 minutes

Massage every part of your body 10-20 times starting from the neck, back, shoulders, hands and fingers using a soft brush or raw silk. Then gently massage the upper chest using horizontal movement. And move to the stomach and massage it from top to bottom, and from left to right. Next, rub your thighs outside in and top to bottom. Massage your knees and feet in a circular motion.

This self-massage process restores energy balance. Because each segment of the skin is associated with an internal organ. Massaging which involves pressure and rubbing of skin helps stimulate those organs and function better with an increased blood flow. Body massage also reduces stress and anxiety.

Healing is not an overnight process.

3. Drink lukewarm water – 30 seconds

Leukwarn water acts as a vasodilator and widens blood vessels in the digestive system. increase blood flow and Gastrointestinal tract activity according to Felice Schnoll-Sussman, M.D., a gastroenterologist at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

4. Practice relaxing quick breathing exercise  – 2 minutes

Take a deep breath through your nose, hold it for few seconds, then exhale through the nose. Nose breathing is far more beneficial than mouth breathing. This self-healing technique requires time to practice.

When distracted, think of a pleasant moment or visualise anything that you like sea waves to relax your mind. Holding anger for a long time or feeling stressed due to daily chores and work pressure disturbs the harmony between mind, body and soul. Breathing and relaxation exercises improve the flow of energy in our body and stimulate our brain to release happy hormones or feel-good hormones like endorphins.
