It felt like home for a little while, didn’t it? Of course it did. Because when we try to make homes out of other people, it makes for the loveliest shelter. Until the windows stop closing all the way, the chill blows through, and nothing keeps you warm. Until the roof caves in, the fire goes out, the promises break. Until the welcome mat is gone, the key no longer fits, and you’re more lost than found. Because when we try to make homes out of other people, it makes for the loneliest shelter.
