Thanks to the psychobiologist and Nobel Prize winner Roger W. Sperry for his wonderful research on the brain and it’s two hemispheres. According to his theory, the human brain has two hemispheres – the left and right – both function differently. And only one side of the brain is dominant in every person.

While the left brain is more associated with analytical and methodical thinking, the right brain is associated with creative thinking and artistic skills.

So, a person who is good at reading, writing, thinking in words, facts, reasoning, and hone great mathematical skills, is said to be left-brain dominant. On the other hand, a person who is highly intuitive and more into arts, daydreaming and imagination is said to be right-brain dominant.

That doesn’t mean you use only one side of the brain at a time. Although the two hemispheres of the brain function differently, they are tied together with the bundle of nerve fibres and work together and complement each other.

So, even if you have brain power that is more identifiable with one of the hemispheres, you will definitely also have traits from the other hemisphere.
