Benefits of Yoga for Men That Will Change Your Life

When it comes to exercising, most fellows prefer masculine sports where they can prove their strength and manliness by kicking or punching something (or someone) such as football, boxing, rugby or baseball.

Therefore, since spending an hour on a mat in a Sun Salutation or a Downward Dog position doesn’t really scream ‘manly’, a lot of guys consider yoga to be an activity for women and don’t want to even give it a shot. The funny thing is, there are so many benefits of yoga for men, so guys who actually try it often anticipate the next class before the ongoing one ends.

This discipline improves strength, coordination, and cardiovascular health, sharpens mental focus and improves sexual performance. Yes, yoga can turn you into a stallion in bed! So now that I have your attention, read the following and see why you should hit the mat as soon as possible.

Benefits of Yoga for Men:

1. Extends the range of motion

Men often go to the gym to work on their hamstrings, glutes, abdomen, and shoulders. However, these muscles can only be trained to a certain limit with weightlifting or bench press. Since monotonous movements only affect certain groups of muscles, their range of motion and growth eventually gets restrained. On the other hand, yoga only uses natural bodyweight to build muscle mass and lengthens the muscles and tissue. This improves blood flow which helps muscles recover faster and allows them to grow.  Although you don’t have to quit your gym, combining gym exercises with yoga can improve your range of motion and help you build muscles.

2. Yoga prevents injuries

Do you often experience pains and injuries? Well, yoga can fix that in numerous ways. You probably know that stretching before a workout can help you prevent certain injuries. Well, did you know that there are different ways of stretching that produce different effects? Yoga involves a large amount of static stretching which improves flexibility and range of motion. This helps lengthen muscles and eliminate strains. Since yoga strengthens connective muscle tissue it improves joint durability. With simple yoga exercises, you will become more aware of your body, easily recognize subtle issues and correct them quickly.

3. Yoga improves breathing

Experts have discovered that most people breathe at 10-20 percent of their full capacity, which is scary when you put into consideration that poor way of breathing can lead to numerous health problems such as high blood pressure and insomnia. However, in yoga class you will learn how to breathe properly, taking in fuller, deeper breaths through the nose. Proper nasal breathing increases energy and vitality, which means you will be able to enhance your workouts and be one step closer to your dream body.

4. It helps create a balanced body and mind

When your body isn’t perfectly balanced you can easily experience hip-related issues, muscle strain, and muscle pull because it is trying to compensate for imbalances. If you don’t fix this problem your tight muscles will only become tighter and your weak muscles weaker. Luckily, this discipline which originated in ancient India helps strengthen and stretch muscles and creates a balanced body. On the other hand, this type of activity trains the mind to focus internally rather than externally, so not only will you have a balanced body, but a balanced mind as well.

5. It enhances productivity at work

If you are having a busy day at work and you need to do your best, keep in mind that just a 20-minute yoga session can improve your memory and help you maintain focus, retain information, and make confident work decisions. It also gives you more energy so you won’t feel drained after a day at the office.

6. Yoga boosts the immune system

Forget about taking countless medications during the flu season. The best way to improve your immune system and keep the doctor away is not an apple a day (although it can help) but practicing yoga. This discipline will improve your body’s defense system and help you stay healthy.

7. It helps relaxation

You have probably had those days when you are just too tired to go to the gym but you knew you had to stay active no matter what. Well, next time you are in desperate need of a break, consider practicing yoga.  It will relax your body while keeping it active at the same time. With yoga, you will help your muscles recover so you will be fully prepared for your next gym session.

8. Improves sex life

Yoga helps men become aware of their bodies, reduces anxiety levels and helps increase blood flow to the genital area. In addition, some toxins in your body can affect your sexual performance but don’t worry, this discipline can help you get rid of them. Studies have shown that yoga can also treat premature ejaculation and improve your timing. You’re welcome.

Although yoga might not be the first thing on the list of fitness classes you want to try, there are some excellent reasons you should consider adding it into your workout routine. So give it a try and get your yoga on!
