Perhaps we should stop calling our shadow, our trauma, our tender woundedness and the consequent issues, ‘our demons.’ This feels like the kind of term that was used to manipulate us into believing we are all shameful sinners that must be controlled and contained. If I have a perpetual problem, it’s a wound. Or it’s a cry for healing. Or it’s a nexus for transformation. But it’s not a demon.
