My first mistake was letting him get away with the small things, knowing that I shouldn’t have, but not wanting to say anything for fear of starting an argument. But it was those same small things that ended up becoming redundant and ended up becoming painful. Damaging. And had I stood up for myself sooner, put my foot down from the jump and showed him that no, I wouldn’t be tolerating even the smallest amount of shit,. then none of this would have ever happened. Get it? I’m the one who taught him how to treat me by keeping my mouth shut all the time, letting him get away with the small things.
