Did you ever see the way the clouds love a mountain?

“Did you ever see the way the clouds love a mountain? They circle all around it; sometimes you can’t even see the mountain for the clouds. But you know what? You go up top and what do you see? His head. The clouds never cover the head. His head pokes through, because the clouds let him; they don’t wrap him up. They let him keep his head up high, free, with nothing to hide him or bind him. ” ― Toni Morrison
When the clouds could let the mountain show their identity – why don’t we. Why do we want to own a person completely. Does that term Belong apply to human beings ? Is that the way things should be ? I am married to a person or could be into a relationship – does that equal o that the person Belongs to me ? Does he has to eat sleep drink, talk to people, do classes or a particular career choice – does all that come under Me ?
No – it doesn’t – Belonging is the term not for Human beings. I don’t belong to You – You don’t belong to me. Belonging would make me loose my identity – I would have to depend on you totally and guess that would make me a mere reflection of you. Love me – respect me- Respect my individuality. I need to breathe – I am a Human Being.
Their is this space – we need to keep for us – Just Ourselves – No one needs to intrude – and this Space needs to be respected too. I may be totally madly in love – and let a person enter this space – and with his first foot in – I loose my self respect. A lack of boundary invites a lack of respect. Respect it for yourself and the world will follow it.
“I can live alone if self respect and circumstances require me to do so. I need not sell my soul to buy bliss. I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all extraneous delights should be withheld, or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give.” – Charlotte Bronte
Controlling partners often disguise their behavior as love or concern, making it difficult to recognize. Are you also in a relationship with someone who makes you feel loved at one point then in another constantly dictates your actions, thoughts, or even emotions?
These are classic signs of controlling partners. They often disguise their behavior as love or concern, making it difficult to recognize.
So if you want to identify these signs then below are what controlling partners do to you.
If you think you are in a marriage of convenience, you will know that it doesn’t feel like a fairy tale, rather it’s about maintaining the status quo. Maybe you are staying in this marriage because everything is “okay” and “stable”.
All the bills are getting paid on time, the house is comfortable, and the kids are happy to have both their parents under the same roof. Moreover, you don’t want to deal with the hassle that comes with filing for a divorce, so you just…stay.
Does this sound familiar? The unfortunate truth is that many married couples stay in a loveless marriage because dealing with the alternate option is scary. They’re together, but they’re not really together. They function more like roommates, business partners, or co-parents rather than lovers.
Knowing how to set boundaries is a game-changer—it’s how you protect your time, energy, and sanity without feeling guilty. Whether it’s with friends, family, or coworkers, setting boundaries helps you avoid burnout and unnecessary drama. Let’s talk about how to do it like a pro.

Upholding our boundaries means sometimes saying “no” when others wish we would say “yes.”
