The Older I Get the More I Understand

THE OLDER I GET THE MORE I UNDERSTAND:

• I may have to be in my healing alone.
• I can outgrow old versions of myself. Changing doesn’t make me “fake.”
• I do not have to give my emotional energy away if I can’t afford to or don’t want to.
• Self-care looks different daily, and that’s okay.
• Forcing what isn’t for me is self-destructive.
• I can be trauma-informed without being trauma consumed.
• I need balance and routine to feel grounded.
• My boundaries (also) apply to me.
• I cannot heal anyone but myself.
• My kindness is not a pass for people to treat me poorly.
• Everything doesn’t deserve a reaction or response.
• Self-forgiveness is essential for my growth.
• I can trust people even if I’ve been hurt in the past.
• Self-love is a daily practice.
• Settling isn’t going to make my life easier or better.
• Excuses will keep me stuck. I have to do the work.
