I saw your footprints in the sand
although I chose to make my own.
I saw the trail you wished to guide through,
although I chose the darker ones to go on alone.
I also saw the signs you sent me
so that I would know what to do
but I chose to find out what was wrong
instead of listening and following you.
All these times I have strayed through the years
I finally see I am learning the ways.

brightening my darker days.
