Youth Mental Health Grants Aim to Strengthen Families and Schools in 2026

The Cigna Group Foundation is launching a new, multi-year initiative to award youth mental health grants to organizations in ten states via its 2026 Youth Mental Health Grant Program. With an increase in children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression and other behavioral issues, the purpose of youth mental health grants is to help create connections between schools and families and communities in a way that makes it easier for young people to seek out and receive assistance.

Eligible organizations can use youth mental health grants to provide access to counseling services, implement peer support models, educate parents and develop unique interventions in schools. Projects that foster collaboration between families and schools will be given preference; youth mental health is not limited to schools and homes. When teachers, counselors or other supportive adults work together cooperatively, it is highly likely that youth will feel validated, acknowledged and supported.

Cigna Group Foundation is investing $9 million in youth mental health over three years and builds upon previous investments that promote emotional well-being and resiliency. With many communities across the country feeling that they lack resources, the grants for youth mental health provide access to timely care for children who would otherwise not receive it. Families and educators want to provide assistance with mental health issues early in order to help prevent future crises and to provide children with an opportunity for a healthy and successful future.
