Youth mental health is still at the top of the list of concerns in the U.S. issues, and December 2025 promises an onslaught of events that target solutions. Events listed in December include national conferences such as the International Conference on Youth Mental Health taking place in Miami.
On the other hand, group efforts like Mental Health First Aid USA are working to educate adults and peers on how to recognize signs of crisis and respond in a nonjudgmental way. Youth mental health professionals argue that early intervention is the answer: if teachers, coaches, parents, and peers are equipped with the tools of how to effectively listen, issues can be dealt with before they become a crisis.
Some of the key topics that have run throughout this year’s discussions about youth mental health include the effects of social media, loneliness, the strain of school, and the combined effect of discrimination and poverty. Young people not only occupy the conversation about mental health but are also driving the conversation. This has ensured that the conversation about youth mental health stays honest and authentic.
