  • 5 Differences Between True Love And Toxic Love

Here are 5 differences between true love and toxic love.

People keep searching true love and when they get into a relationship things appear as if their dream of a real soulmate has got into reality.

But does everything goes absolutely as one desires?

Gradually the person you love turns out to be someone who is entirely different from the one you initially met. This is the time your ‘true love’ takes the form of a ‘toxic love’.

Read The Key Differences Between Love and Lust

Therefore, before getting into a relationship you should know actual meanings of true love and toxic love.

Let’s dive into 5 key differences between true love and toxic love.

    1. Self Love vs Importance of relationship

In true love, the development of self is most important. Both parties should want the best for one another.

In toxic love, the primary focus is on the relationship itself, sometimes obsessing over how the two people involved interface.

    2. Separate interest vs Codependency

In true love, there is comfort in separate interests. We can have our own friends and meaningful relationships outside of our romantic relationships. We can pursue interests and ideas without fear of reprimand.

In toxic love, there is total involvement in one another’s lives. One can’t go anywhere without the other. This is codependency.

    3. Freedom vs tendency to change partner to a different individual

In true love, there’s no struggle in embracing the individuality of your partner. you accept your partner the way he/she is.

In toxic love, there is an extreme urge to change your partner into someone you’d rather be with instead of loving them for who they are.

    4. Mutual intimacy vs Forced Intimacy

In true love, intimacy is a free-flowing action growing from deep love, care, and affection. Respect dominates between the partners in true love.

In toxic love, Intimacy is something you feel pressured over due to fear, insecurity, and feeling as though you have to conform to the sexual desires of your partner.

    5. Friendly conversation vs argumentative

In true love, the conversation is constructive. Each partner tries to understand the other’s emotions and feelings. Partners try to sort their differences by ‘talking’ in a polite and affectionate manner.

In toxic love, conversations are started with trivial arguments that finally gets converted into blame-shifting, being defensive and sheer manipulation.

What other differences do you think there are?

    Toxic Love

  • What if you are already successful?

Most of us invest our time and energy in comparing our lives with others. In doing so our focus shifts to our weaknesses, mistakes, and failures.  We are so busy chasing goals that we rarely find time to breathe and reflect on our competencies and achievements. Sometimes we realize accomplishing tough challenges only after a proverbial pat on our back by colleagues or closed ones. When there is no validation, our self-limiting beliefs force us to think we are unsuccessful.

Success is not always about winning or having tons of money – that’s an outdated perception. The definition of success may vary from person to person. What if you are already successful? How to figure that out?

    You are Already Successful

Here are 25 Signs that You are Already Successful

    1. You live in harmony.

Close your eyes and think of your family and relationships. Is there more harmony and less chaos and conflicts? Can you count on your closed ones at times of need? Do you find things peaceful at home and work?  If yes, then your life is pretty successful.

    2. You are an early bird.

People who wake up early in the morning are more proactive and productive than those who wake up at an arbitrary time, according to a Harvard Study. Early birds can avoid distractions because they are aligned with the natural rhythm of the earth. Going with natural biological wiring will make you more effective. If you don’t hit the snooze button every morning, then you are having a successful lifestyle and personality.

    3. You have a plan.

All the great and successful people in this world have one thing in common – a long term strategy. Success is built on the structure and a framework to reach your goals. If you know what you want and who you want to become and have a plan to achieve your goals, then you are successful.

    4. You can say ‘NO’.

    successful people can say NO

According to Steve Jobs, innovation is saying “NO” to thousands of things. There may be hundreds of good ideas, but you must be careful to pick the right ones. If you can move ahead without seeking praise then you can easily say no as well.

Successful people can say no to overworking, parties that no more interest them, spending time with people without a growth mindset, and so on.

    5. You preach patience.

if you have patience you are already successful

    6. You aren’t addicted to salary.

“The three most harmful addictions are heroin, carbohydrates, and a monthly salary.” Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

Just like drugs give feel-good and reward like experience, salary also triggers dopamine the happy hormone in our body. People enjoy the rat race as there are no uncertainties or risks in the job.

When a person stops getting his daily dose of the drug, he may enter a state of limbo, barely functional. Similarly, a person who loses a job feels a sense of helplessness and nervousness.

If you can live without worrying about insufficient money to meet both ends, then you are most definitely a success!

    7. You are optimistic.

By Thinking One Positive Thought Every Evening

Every thought releases some brain chemicals. Positive and joyful thoughts cause our brains to produce feel-good hormones like serotonin. Being optimistic reduces stress hormones like cortisol and creates a sense of well-being. On the contrary negative thinking creates stress and slows the brain function over time. Positive thinking can help you achieve your goals faster and that’s the essential trait of successful people.

    8. Don’t seek praise, seek criticism.

Criticism builds character and brings a change in you. However, you must be ready to avoid the ego or feeling of being attacked and embarrassed. If you can keep working hard without praise or validation, then you are a more successful individual than you might even know.

    9. You have discipline.

Self-discipline is the single most attribute to success. Discipline helps you stay focused, avoid past mistakes, and make the right call. It allows you to push yourself to new heights even when the situation is not comfortable.

    10. You are socially active.

Your social circle can have a great impact on the quality of your life. There are various physical and mental benefits of being social such as low blood pressure and low anxiety and depression. Being active in different social circles helps you move forwards towards a healthy and harmonious life by helping each other in a group. You can also pick toxic personalities to avoid them.

    11. You offer mutual respect.

Both good and bad experiences are necessary for success. Successful people always respect their life, other people’s lives, and human existence. If you understand the value of treating others with respect, you already harness one of the most important aspects of success.

    12. You are assertive

Do you have active listening skills?  Are you into open and honest communication always? Do you stay grounded amidst the chaos? Do you know how to pick your battles? You are clear about your thoughts and needs? If yes then you are already successful.

    13. You are health conscious.

If you always eat the right food and in the right proportions and avoid activities that are bad for health such as smoking, alcohol abuse, then you are already successful. Besides, you aim to be stronger and hence take out time for exercise, rest, and recreation. Such a habit will turn you into a stronger individual with greater drive and willpower.

    14. You seek healthy relationships.

Successful people understand what a healthy relationship is. They tend to justify a relationship rather than using a person to solve personal issues. 16. You are helpful.

A lot of successful people are also on the list of most generous philanthropists. Take Bill Gates and Melinda. Besides their personal goals, they also work for a cause and think of well being of others.

If you can help people with your wealth, education, knowledge, network, ideas and act as a pillar of strength for closed ones, then success is not too far off.

    17. You are internally driven.

People who don’t succeed are those who are afraid of challenges, depend on others for motivation, and fear taking responsibility.

If you have the willingness to get through the problems and can motivate yourself, then you are internally driven. Successful people don’t mind getting sleeves rolled up and their hands dirty.

    18. You are a fighter.

Modern life not only gives us ample opportunities for success but failure too. Successful people battle back even after hitting the rock bottom of life. They march forward with an iron-daunted spirit.

If you know how to fight back when the world is setting you up to fail, then you are on the way to long-term success.

    19. You always want more.

Ambitious and successful people always set very high standards. In any situation, if you are not satisfied with your performance and keep trying hard for excellence, then you are already on the road to success.

    20. You are confident.

Be confident. Too many days are wasted comparing ourselves to others

Confidence without arrogance is the key to success. Humility is always appealing and truly successful people have this trait. They don’t see money as the measure of success. Instead, they share their credit and wealth. They remain focused and are hungry to continue the journey to success according to fallen basketball legend Rick Pitino,

If you are humble and can inspire those who are struggling, you are already a successful individual.

Do you have time to improve yourself? Do you invest money in learning new things? Then you are on the way to becoming a better person and professional. There is always a scope of improvement if you can compare yourself to who you were yesterday and who you want to become.

Successful people strive to improve on the previous performance and in doing so they not only make their world better but also the world around them.

    22. You have time-management skills.

Time management is another great sign of a successful individual. Being able to use the time in the right manner allows you to deliver work on time, give more productivity, increase efficiency, avoid procrastination, and stay stress-free. If you have this skill, then you are already a success.

    23. You have successful friends.

People you spend time with statistically affects your success. By spending time with winners, your attitude changes. You are not immune to negative energy or influence. So, it’s better to surround yourself with positive people and successful people. You can learn, grow,  and develop yourself in the right manner.

Success around you is the easiest way to inspire yourself. If you find yourself surrounded by those who are also doing well it can be easier to actually improve and develop yourself in the right manner.

    24. You hate the blame game.

    You are Already Successful

Successful people take responsibility for their mistakes instead of blaming others for their problems and failures. Hence, they become strong and powerful. On the contrary, blaming others drains your mental energy with no positive outcomes. By being active you don’t let people bend your way rather transform your life the way you want.

    25. You don’t waste your time.

Successful people make mistakes but don’t dwell on the past for too long. They neither procrastinate nor take out time for things counterproductive to their self-development. If you know what you want and have high self-esteem, then utilize your time for productive activities to grow and become a better person.

Nobody can make you feel successful. It is all about how you feel yourself and looks at life. Success comes from being true to yourself and moving ahead with the attitude of never giving up.

  • Strangers To Friends

Strangers to Friends to best friends to Lovers and then to Strangers again..  A stranger, stranger than a Stranger.
Does the circle ever start over again?
What do you have to say? Are you still friends with your past lover or strangers or lovers again?

  • How Expecting Nothing From Everyone Else Can Save You From Yourself

“IF YOU EXPECT NOTHING FROM ANYBODY, YOU’RE NEVER DISAPPOINTED.” SYLVIA PLATH

Related: Having expectations and not having them live up to can bring you down in so many ways. Here’s The Key To Bliss: Let Go Of Expectations And Avoid Suffering.

What gives us the idea that the people around us are responsible for the way we feel or don’t feel? Why is it that we expect so little from ourselves and so much from others? We want our family to love and care for us; we want our friends to value and cherish us, and we want the entire world to see how incredible we really are. But all this time,  have we learned to provide for ourselves all these things that we seek to get from those around us?

We expect so little from ourselves and so much from others. We constantly seek outside of us for all the things that we feel are missing from within ourselves, which is why we fail to realize the extent of how capable we are, and that we can do so much more for ourselves than the whole world can do for us.

“ALL YOU NEED IS ALREADY WITHIN YOU, ONLY YOU MUST APPROACH YOUR SELF WITH REVERENCE AND LOVE. SELF-CONDEMNATION AND SELF-DISTRUST ARE GRIEVOUS ERRORS. YOUR CONSTANT FLIGHT FROM PAIN AND SEARCH FOR PLEASURE IS A SIGN OF LOVE YOU BEAR FOR YOUR SELF, ALL I PLEAD WITH YOU IS THIS: MAKE LOVE OF YOUR SELF PERFECT. DENY YOURSELF NOTHING — GLUE YOUR SELF INFINITY AND ETERNITY AND DISCOVER THAT YOU DO NOT NEED THEM; YOU ARE BEYOND.” — NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ

After continuous years of working on myself, I got really good at handling my own darkness; I got better at facing my inner demons all by myself, without the help of other people. But I began to act differently after moving back home to finish writing my book, having to deal with so much past happenings and being in the energy of that place for such a long time. Instead of behaving like the person I had become, I started behaving more like the person that I once was. Consequently, I started expecting my family, my friends, and those close to me to lift me up whenever I was feeling down. I began to expect more from those around me than I was expecting from myself. And not before long, I  lost my balance completely.

Entirely detached from the wisdom and the power of my heart and soul, that special place from which my strength, courage, and confidence organically comes from, I started filling my mind with all kinds of toxic, unhealthy, and fearful thoughts. Thoughts that were making me feel as if I was living in an extremely hostile world, a world where I was worthless and incapable – a world where I needed other people to save me since I was no longer able to save myself.

“NO ONE SAVES US BUT OURSELVES. NO ONE CAN AND NO ONE MAY. WE OURSELVES MUST WALK THE PATH.” — BUDDHA

I was in that place for only a limited time and I gradually brought myself back to the surface. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who live their entire lives in that dark and fearful place, which is a terribly sad thing. It’s unfortunate because there is immense power, so much strength and plenty of wisdom within each and every one of us, but because we believe all the lies our minds are constantly telling us, we begin to look outside of us for all the things we believe are missing from ourselves. This leaves us unable to see things clearly, and unable to recognize the truth that lies behind these lies for ourselves – that we have within us the power, the strength, the courage and the confidence to handle and deal with everything that life sends our way.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” — Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

You truly are powerful and capable beyond measure. Even though your mind may try to convince you otherwise, you have to understand and accept that your “salvation” will never come from anything or anyone outside of you. Nobody, despite how close and important they might be to you, is responsible for your own life, health, happiness, and well-being. Absolutely nobody! You are the only one responsible for the way you feel, for how your life looks, and for the mess that’s in and around your life. If you want things to get better, it’s your own responsibility to make them better.

“DON’T GO AROUND SAYING THE WORLD OWES YOU A LIVING. THE WORLD OWES YOU NOTHING. IT WAS HERE FIRST.” — MARK TWAIN

Simply put, nobody can save you but yourself. You are the lead character of your own life, the protagonist of your own life story. This means that you yourself have to “save” yourself from whatever it is that you need to be “saved” from. You and only you can illuminate all those places where there was once so much darkness, and only you can fight and conquer your own demons.

Nobody, absolutely nobody, can fight your battles for you.

Yes, you have friends, family members and all kind of people from whom your mind will definitely tell you to expect things like love, acceptance, happiness, approval, affection, validation, etc., and even though it would be great to get all those things from them, you have to keep in mind that –

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.” Rumi.

Understand that you don’t need anything from anyone. Everything and anything you need is already within you. So ask all you want from yourself, so that you may expect more from yourself and less from others.

Learn to honor who you are because your life is yours to live. Learn to expect more from yourself and less from others. Make peace with the idea that everything that’s happening to you, no matter how dark and painful, it’s all a part of your life’s journey. It’s all a part of your evolution and spiritual growth. All of it is meant to mold you, to polish you, and to bring to the surface the immensely wonderful, powerful, and divine being that lies underneath all the darkness. Have faith that –

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.” ― Eckhart Tolle

Walk your path in life with your head held high. Embrace and face your challenges with dignity. Allow your struggles to make you become better, not bitter. Allow your life challenges to lift you up and not to tear you down. Remember, no matter what happens to you in life, never blame anyone for what you’re feeling.

    Stay graceful.

  • 7 Reasons Why People Who Talk Less Are Smarter And More Interesting

People who talk less or are quieter by nature are frequently misunderstood. Listening to the spiciest gossip and the craziest stories is what fascinates everyone on the first go. People, who are ‘the life of the party’ grab all the attention through their impeccable communication skills but how about that guy standing alone in the corner? Away from all the action? The listener of the group?

Well, that misunderstood fellow is actually the sharpest one amongst all. This could possibly be hard to believe but it is indeed a fact.

It is a common notion and the first instinct of society to consider the ones who talk less to be simple, naïve, gullible. But perhaps you are underestimating the smartest person in the room. Behind their not-so-confident personality, these quiet ones mysteriously possess the most intelligent attributes.

Here are 7 reasons why people who talk less are smarter and interesting than most

    1. Quiet people are great observers.

The time an extrovert spends chatting and socializing with others is utilized by an introvert in observing their surroundings. They are chronic overthinkers and hence move from one subject to the next inside their heads.

They get to study people and the environment and form some very useful and accurate opinions. Their conservative and not-so-interactive nature gives them ample time for observing, and listening to everyone around them.

quiet - the power of introverts

    2. The quiet ones value and appreciate other’s opinion.

If you talk less, then you should feel good about the fact that people love you for making them feel important and worth listening to. It takes patience to listen to someone attentively and use it to gain as much knowledge as possible. Apart from enriching your knowledge, you increase the bandwidth of your opinion and enhance your communication skills.

At the same time, you also make the other person feel seen, heard, and understood, and this is something that not a lot of people have the power of doing.

ReadHow Introverts, Empaths, HSPs, And Old Souls Are Different

    3. They are conscious of what they speak.

They do not prefer to blurt out what they feel every now and then. ‘Talking to the point’ is more their style. Crisp and substantial information uttered once in the conversation by them is enough to leave you dumbstruck. They take their own decisions based on listening to what others say and what they observe over time. They try to learn from an extrovert’s mistakes and make better decisions for themselves.

    4. They take time to analyze and respond back.

People who talk less do not jump to conclusions directly. They grasp as much information as possible because they have strong minds. They prefer being quiet because it gives their mind a chance to wander and reflect.

They prepare themselves for every possible question (which probably they would never have to answer) and hence understand the versatility in perceptions and opinions. Processing of the discussion matters to them more than verbal participation

    5. They have an independent mindset.

Since introverts do not have an extraordinary social life, they do not hang out in popular circles, thereby reducing the chances of getting influenced by popular groups. They always manage to stick to their individuality. Since they are reserved, they get saved from getting attached to people who might drain them of their mental and emotional energy.

    6. Quiet people are natural learners.

People who talk less are always thirsty for knowledge. Their incredible curiosity drives them to keep learning new things. They hate gossiping with people, not because they are anti-social, but because they don’t like the idea of wasting their time talking about other people behind their backs.

They would rather spend more time writing or reading books to expand their mind. Thanks to their rich knowledge, they don’t speak any kind of nonsense, instead, they enchant people with stimulating conversation.

    7. They indulge in self-care.

Spending time in solitude rather than partying gives them time for soul searching and personal growth. As a result, they have better emotional and psychological health, compared to people who never introspect. According to Susan Cain, author of the book “Quiet: The Power of Introverts”, introversion is simply the preference for less stimulation.

So, the next time you are judging an introvert by their first impression and consider them not smart enough or good enough for not being a good communicator, think again because they can be one of those people who are the smartest and brightest people in the room.

  • 5 Great Lessons A Highly Sensitive Person Needs To Learn

What are the Lessons A Highly Sensitive Person Needs To Learn?

In 1922, Dr Aron coined the word “Highly Sensitive Person” (HSP) and this concept has been studied for quite some time now. Jung also studied this group of people and referred them as “people of innate sensitiveness.”

People with high sensitivity might also be known as people with ‘Sensory Perception Sensitivity’. These people are not different than us, other than in one crucial way. These people perceive and interpret internal and external stimuli more intensely and thoroughly as compared to other people who lack this hypersensitivity due to the biological difference in their nervous system. When these people perceive information, it is processed through filters to gain insight and awareness into the environment around us.

Many highly sensitive people believe that this ability of theirs is a hindrance in a society that demands them to be strong and unfeeling. As a highly sensitive person, you have the ability to refine your abilities.

It is surprising yet true that a High Sensitivity is not a weakness, but a source of tremendous yet often unrecognized strengths. Sensitive people have the innate quality of empathy which makes it difficult for them to avoid pain and suffering around themselves, to turn a blind eye to the injustice in the world. More often than not, this quality of highly sensitive people often makes it difficult for them to function without being affected by the affliction of the world. These people are more in need of healing and detoxification as they absorb the outside negativity more directly than others.

Here are 5 important lessons that a sensitive person needs to learn in order to survive:

    1. Regulate your emotional responses:

As a highly sensitive person, you might be prone to reacting with intense emotions under various circumstances. When you see someone is in need, your initial tendency is to react with heightened emotions which is both overwhelming and often debilitating for yourself.

You might also find it difficult to control your emotional response wherever it is necessary. Being able to process and handle your emotions maturely, is a skill that comes with age. It is often required for you to understand that every situation which evokes your need to make justice might seem helpful on the surface, but you must also consider a few situations in which it is necessary for you to contain your emotions. For example, at your workplace. Your emotional expression to sympathize with your co-workers might jeopardize your work health.

    2. Listen to your chiming intuition:

Sensitive people are great at being aware of their immediate surroundings. But they often, unfortunately, ignore their inner voice. Out guts are always telling us things we are not consciously aware of. Highly intuitive people filter out information from the surroundings more efficiently than others. Hence, if you are a highly sensitive person, you are extremely intuitive. You filter stimuli around you, even without your knowledge.

Because we are so perceptive of our environment and empathetic towards the suffering and misery of other people, we have a high chance of being unduly taken advantage of. People often betray you, backbite you, and lower your spiritual energy. To avoid all these, it is suggested to listen closely to your intuition.

It is this inner source of wisdom that protects us and warns us to tread carefully. we are so focused on helping other people around us that it is easy for us to lose your inner track. But to pour on to other people, it’s necessary for you to be focused on things that really matter to you. The lesson as you need to learn here is to rely on your intuitive wisdom and sort your priorities out before the responsibilities of others become burden on you.

    4. Sensitivity is not synonymous to weakness:

Other people, who do not feel as deeply as the highly sensitive people do, believe that being sensitive in harsh times like this is sheer folly and is a weak trait. But in contrast to this notion, people who have the ability to connect spiritually beyond the surface with other people’s pain, anger and sadness have the superpower to experience the world from the other people’s mindset.

The key lesson to learn here is to use this fortitude for the greater service of others and ourselves. Being able to refocus one’s general knowledge about the human psyche to oneself, for the improvement of self will only help you in being the agent of change the world needs you to be.

    5. Accept your authentic self:

The most important lesson a highly sensitive person needs to learn is to never change oneself, just because you’re different from most other people. Other people will try to convince you why giving up on healing others is a good idea. But if you fake your identity and try to be someone who you are not, you will have to live a lie throughout your entire life.
