The basis of the suit was that algorithmdriven feeds, infinite scroll, notifications and recommenders are not apolitical they are designed for eyeballs, even if those eyeballs cost social media mental health. Jurors learned that Meta and Google were aware of the dangers to teenagers and younger children but neglected to act.
