Perfect,
for all the world to see
but on the inside, misery.

The place I come from is dark
and broken but what I present to you
is bright and outspoken.

I can dazzle, entertain & put on a show,
but the real me…none of you know.

Ah, but I know what goes on backstage,
As the audience applauds with adoration.

In the spotlight she’s loved,
in the dark lonely.

If you are prepared to dance to their tune,
you must also be prepared to face the music.

I played the game with all my might,
To remain in the spotlight.
For the world it was a lovely sight…
But why did it not feel right?

My stage face bears a mask
to hide the awful task that I am forced to be,
for you and you and everyone but me…

I was a “puppet” in my own hand;
danced to “please” till the end.

And the award for best performance
goes to Yourself,
for being a puppeteer.

The price of fame,
adoration and wealth is exhaustion,
loneliness, and pain.

If we could be the image
that we portray to others,
perhaps we would love ourselves, too.

Playing the game
She puts on a show,
To feel loved by the masses
But she still cries alone.

As an entertainer,
I am the life of the party
but behind the scenes,
my life is in ruins.

It’s not fake it till you make it…
it’s face it till you make it!

What’s on the outside
is not necessary what’s happening
on the inside.

In the limelight she entertains
In the background she yells

The art of fakery,
While we hide our misery.

Everyone has a secret sorrow
that the people does not know about.
People only see what you show them.

What we hide to make
people love us…

In control of what others see
so they can love me
