In 2026 there’s growing urgency for community support for youth mental health at Cigna Foundation which is investing $9 million in grant awards to community based non-profits that provide support to youth ages 5-18 with grant application period from February 3rd to March 12th for nonprofits located in 10 targeted states: Arizona, Connecticut, and Texas.
Cigna Foundation’s youth mental health grant funds initiatives based on social and emotional learning, trauma-informed care, and family and school partnerships which is necessary for today’s youth with rates of anxiety, depression and suicide among teens at unprecedented levels. “Young people are facing challenges that we can not identify/relate/understand to. We will continue to invest in community-based organizations that can provide tangible, evidenced based-impactful solutions,” says Cigna Foundation President, Ellie Polack.
Youth mental health initiatives (to assist underserved youth) will be able to implement activities through peer to peer programs, programs to train caregiver(s), and programs that work directly with schools. This funding is a multi-year investment indicative of increasing awareness that youth mental health is an issue which can no longer be ignored and requires urgent action from businesses, governments, and communities alike.
