In a heartfelt Instagram post, actor Ileana D’Cruz has opened up about her experiences with postpartum depression and the motherhood challenges following the birth of her son, Koa Phoenix Dolan, in August last year.
Reflecting on her journey as a new mother, Ileana shared a candid no-makeup photo of herself, laying in bed in a robe, and expressed how she often struggles to find time for herself amidst the responsibilities of being a full-time mom and managing household chores.
“Hi…it’s been a while since I’ve really taken a photo of myself or posted something on here…Between being a full-time mama and keeping house, I don’t seem to find time for myself. I’m mostly in PJs and a messy unattractive mom bun to keep my hair away from my munchkin’s little grabby hands,” she wrote.
Acknowledging the reality of postpartum depression, Ileana emphasized the need for more open discussions about the topic, stating, “We just don’t talk about postpartum depression enough. It’s very real. And it’s an incredibly alienating feeling.”
Motherhood Challenges And Need For Self-Care
Despite the challenges, Ileana shared her efforts to prioritize self-care, revealing that even a short workout and quick shower can work wonders for her mental health. She encouraged other mothers to be kinder to themselves and embrace their own journey to recovery at their own pace.
In her heartfelt message, Ileana expressed gratitude for the support of her followers and hinted at her intention to share more glimpses into her life as a new mother in the future.
Ileana’s candid revelation sheds light on the often overlooked struggles faced by new mothers, especially concerning mental health issues like postpartum depression. Her openness serves as an inspiration for others to speak up and seek support in navigating the challenges of motherhood.
Aside from her personal journey, Ileana also provided updates on her professional endeavors, including her recent film projects. She was last seen in “The Big Bull” alongside Abhishek Bachchan and is set to appear in “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely” opposite Randeep Hooda, as well as “Do Aur Do Pyaar” alongside Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
As Ileana continues to navigate the highs and lows of motherhood, her honest reflections offer a glimpse into the realities of balancing personal well-being with the demands of parenthood.
