2. Insidious 6

Directed by: Patrick Wilson
Release date: August 29, 2025

Insidious 6 is a welcome surprise for fans of the franchise, especially after Insidious: The Red Door seemed to mark the end of the series. But, thanks to its box office success, we’re getting another chilling installment. Details are still under wraps, but since the Insidious films have consistently been known for their creepy atmosphere and unsettling explorations of the supernatural, this upcoming horror movie one is going to be no less.

The series revolves around the Lambert family and their terrifying encounters with spirits and demons from the “Further.” This new movie will likely bring back the central characters, played by Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Ty Simpkins. Patrick Wilson may return behind the camera as director (following his successful debut with Insidious: The Red Door), so expect lots of creepy visuals and that familiar, spine-tingling atmosphere in the new horror movie.

3. The Black Phone 2

Directed by: Scott Derrickson
Release date: October 16, 2025

The Black Phone was a sleeper hit in 2022. In The Black Phone 2, we return to the terrifying world introduced in the first film, where a kidnapped boy communicates with the spirits of the previous victims through an old, disconnected phone.

Ethan Hawke’s creepy performance as the masked villain, the Grabber, left an impact on viewers, and now he’s back. Alongside him, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw reprise their roles as Finney and Gwen, siblings dealing with the trauma of their experiences.

What’s new? Joe Hill, the author of The Black Phone, expands the universe further with new horrors and mysteries. The addition of Demián Bichir to the cast hints at a new character who could hold some key to the next chapter of this horror movie. Fans of The Shining and It will likely enjoy the dark, eerie atmosphere of this upcoming horror movie.

4. Saw XI

Directed by: Kevin Greutert
Release date: September 27, 2024

Saw XI is one of the most anticipated horror movies and it promises to continue the long-running Saw franchise’s brutal legacy of twisted games and moral dilemmas. After the success of Saw X, fans were ecstatic to hear that the franchise will live on with this next installment.

Minimal details have been released, but we know Tobin Bell will return as John Kramer, the infamous Jigsaw killer, making this a direct continuation of the events of Saw X. Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI and Saw VII, is returning behind the camera to deliver the grisly traps and shocking plot twists we’ve come to expect.

The franchise has always been about death’s unstoppable pursuit of those who’ve escaped it, and with Saw XI, you can bet there will be more twisted puzzles and psychological mind games. Fans can expect more mind-bending plot developments and, of course, lots of gore in this new horror movie.

5. The Bride!

Directed by: Maggie Gyllenhaal
Release date: September 26, 2025

The Bride! is going to be the horror romance of the year, and it’s not your typical monster movie. Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, this film takes a new approach to the Frankenstein mythos by focusing on the monster’s relationship with his newly created companion. Set in 1930s Chicago, Dr. Euphronius creates the Monster a mate, and it’s here that the film explores themes of love, identity, and social change.

Christian Bale stars as Frankenstein’s Monster, with Jessie Buckley playing his Bride, but this won’t be a typical love story. The upcoming horror movie is expected to offer a feminist perspective on the classic tale, showcasing the monstrous ways society has treated women, especially in the context of Frankenstein’s creation of a female counterpart.

With an all-star cast including Penélope Cruz and Annette Bening, expect a chilling, thought-provoking narrative with plenty of gothic atmosphere. If you want a fresh take on the Frankenstein story, The Bride! is sure to hit the spot.

6. The Conjuring: Last Rites

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will return as the iconic paranormal investigators, and this time, they’ll be facing their most dangerous case yet. The film has been tightly guarded, but it’s clear that this will be an emotionally charged and terrifying final investigation.

Given the success of the previous horror movies, fans can expect a deeply chilling narrative full of jump scares, possession, and haunting mysteries. If you’ve followed the Warrens’ journey from the start, you won’t want to miss this send-off.

7. 28 Years Later

Directed by: Danny Boyle
Release date: June 20, 2025

28 Years Later is the long-awaited sequel in the 28 Days Later trilogy, and it’s bringing us back to a world ravaged by the rage virus. This time, we’re dealing with survivors living in an isolated location, and when they venture into the mainland, they find a disturbing reality where both the infected and other human factions have drastically evolved.

Directed by Danny Boyle, this film will bring back the gripping, chaotic atmosphere that made the first film such a hit. Newcomers like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer will join the cast, but there’s no word yet on whether Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Jim.

Regardless, this horror movie will bring more heart-pounding moments, adding another layer to the terrifying post-apocalyptic world that Boyle has created.

8. Final Destination: Bloodlines

Directed by: Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein
Release date: May 16, 2025

The film will focus on first responders—EMTs, firefighters, and police officers—who face death on a daily basis, only to find that escaping death’s clutches might not be as easy as they thought.

With Tony Todd returning as the creepy mortician Bludworth, this movie will surely deliver the series’ trademark blend of gory deaths and heart-racing tension.

Fans of the Final Destination series will love how this installment breathes new life into the familiar formula while still maintaining the gruesome thrills that have kept audiences coming back for more.

9. Sinners

Directed by: Ryan Coogler
Release date: March 7, 2025

Ryan Coogler brings his signature storytelling to the horror genre with Sinners. Set in the Jim Crow-era South, the film follows two brothers returning to their hometown, only to find a dark evil has taken root in the community—led by the Ku Klux Klan and other malevolent forces.

Michael B. Jordan plays identical twins in this tense vampire thriller that blends supernatural horror with real-world historical horrors. Coogler and Jordan’s collaboration has already delivered critically acclaimed work, and Sinners promises to be just as impactful.

With Hailee Steinfeld and Wunmi Mosaku joining the cast, expect a chilling yet touching exploration of race, history, and the supernatural. It’s a fresh take on horror, one that’ll stay with you long after the credits roll.

2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for horror lovers, with these and more terrifying horror movies heading our way. Time to stock up on popcorn, because it’s going to be a scary good time!

Texting is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to feel like a real conversation, not an awkward back-and-forth that goes nowhere. But the good thing is that this habit is easy to fix. With just a litt
