An open letter to my future child

Author :

I’m sorry. I’m sorry that we haven’t left this world in a better state.
I’m sorry that you might suffer.
You will see hatred being glorified,
You will see violence, you will see death in its most brutal forms,
You will see betrayal by your most trusted,
You will see promised vows under the eyes of God, turn into crude unfaithfulness and lies,
You will see power and supremacy trumping humanity.

But the worst thing you will ever see, is everyone turning a blind eye.
The worst thing you will ever see, is that no one will even care.

If nothing else, my only desire is that you will succeed in being good anyway. I hope that you will always strive to change what you can, I hope that you will always offer a hand, even when no one offers you theirs, I hope that you will care enough. I hope that you will never become jaded, like I have.
