Wayne Dyer: Your Soul Mate Is The One You Can’t Stand

If you look up a definition for the soul mate in the dictionary, you will probably get the following:

‘A soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, love, intimacy, sexuality, and spirituality.’

There are so many misconceptions about soul mates and most of them exist because we tend to idealize people and relationships, forcing ourselves to live in an imaginary world that sooner or later comes crushing down on us.

When most of us picture a soul mate couple, we tend to think of Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, or The Beauty and The Best.

The intensity of these couples’ romances entrances us into thinking that our love story can be as magical and unique as theirs, and with that pushes us into the vicious circle of bad and failed relationships that leave us hurt and disappointed.

But while these exhilarating and often tragic love stories gave us a glimmer of hope that our own love stories could be just as enchanting, in reality, we struggle with romances that are lackluster at best and completely incompatible at worst.
