I Promised Myself I Wouldn’t Let Someone That Close Again

I promised myself I wouldn’t let someone that close again. But what happens when the thing you fear could be what heals you? I’m afraid. So I cling to things that aren’t good for me. I cling to the pain I’m used to. I admit I wear it a little too comfortably sometimes. Like the oversized sweatshirt with rips, I refuse to throw away. I’m afraid to care because if I admit I care then I have something to lose. And if I suddenly have something to lose then there’s a chance I can lose myself in an attempt to try and keep them if ever they choose to go.
