It’s a job that requires masses of dedication, love, and patience, but it’s also one of the most fulfilling roles you can ever have in life.
3. Social Worker
Social workers can help a variety of different people in need, from children in care to older people struggling on their own. Which area you focus on depends on who you most want to assist, but there is a branch dedicated to mental wellbeing. Social workers in this area provide information and assistance to those with mental disorders who aren’t always able to cope in their day to day lives. They don’t necessarily administer treatment to these people, but they do offer a wealth of support to ensure that their issues don’t impact their quality of life.
4. Clinical Psychologist
Becoming a clinical psychologist takes time. After all, the human brain is a complicated thing, so you can’t expect to simply waltz into a job just because you’re passionate about it. That’s, unfortunately, part of the reason why there are only 30 psychologists per 100,000 Americans. The wait is definitely worth it, though, if you’re dedicated to helping those with mental and behavioral disorders. As a clinical psychologist, you’ll be able to diagnose various disorders and help administer treatments like psychotherapy and humanistic therapy to improve people’s state of mind. If you’re so inclined, you can also conduct your own research to help advance the field and better treat those whose mental wellbeing has suffered.
