1. It Ends With Us (21 June 2024)
It Ends With Us, featuring Blake Lively, Brandon Sklenar, Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj, is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2016 novel. Hoover once said it was “the hardest book I’ve ever written,” and that makes sense because the story is pretty emotional.
Lily Bloom, fresh out of college, heads to Boston to start her own flower shop after her dad dies. She just spoke at his funeral, however that didn’t go as planned, as she always had mixed feelings about him.
While going through her old diaries and revisiting her younger years, she thinks about Atlas Corrigan, her first love who went off to the military, but promised her he would return.
While she is dealing with her feelings she meets Ryle Kincaid, a handsome surgeon and both fall in love with each other. However, their relationship slowly takes a turn for the worse.
2. The Watchers (7th June 2024)
One of the most anticipated movies of 2024, it revolves around a woman named Mina (Dakota Fanning), an artist, who gets stranded in a forest in Western Ireland. Even though she does find a place to stay, she ends up being trapped with three other people who are being hunted by strange creatures every night.
In the book, she lives in a room made entirely of glass, which makes her feel like an animal in a zoo being stared at. Mina is determined to figure out who these “Watchers” are and why they’re after her.
The horror-mystery film based on the book of the same name by A.M. Shine is directed by Ishana Shyamalan, daughter of renowned director, M. Night Shyamalan.
3. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (19 April 2024)

This is easily one of the most highly anticipated Netflix movies based on books which is releasing in 2024.
“Spaceman of Bohemia” follows the out of this world adventure of a Czechoslovakian scientist turned astronaut, Jakub (Adam Sandler) as he heads for Venus. But wait, it gets even more bizarre: Jakub runs into a giant talking spider, with whom he communicates throughout his journey. Yes, you read that right.
Adam Sandler stars opposite Paul Dano who lends his voice to the extra-terrestrial spider, and Carey Mulligan who plays Jakub’s wife (who he left behind on Earth). This is going to be one of the best Netflix movies based on books, I’m sure.
5. The Idea Of You (16 March 2024)
Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine in a romantic comedy, adapted from a book? Sign me up right now! One of the most anticipated movies of the year, it revolves around a May-December romance between an older single mother, Solene, and 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, heartthrob and lead singer of a popular band.
What starts off as a no-strings-attached fling gradually turns into a serious tale of love. But will their love be able to handle the constant attention it receives from Campbell’s fans and the world?
Seeing Anne Hathaway star in a romantic movie after years makes my heart feel full, and be rest assured I will be the first one in line to buy a ticket!
6. Mickey 17 (29 March 2024)
Mickey 17 is creating a lot of buzz, since it’s based on Edward Ashton’s best-selling novel, Mickey 7, and is directed by the Oscar-winning director of Parasite, Bong Joon-Ho.
One of the most anticipated movies of the year, it’s about an expendable space explorer named Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) going on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim, and with very little chance of coming back alive.
When one Mickey dies, another clone is created in his place, with almost all his memories intact making him almost immortal.
This sci-fi movie explores the relationship between life and death and what it means to be human. Giving Pattinson ample company is a powerhouse cast comprising of Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, and Naomi Ackie.
