Suzanne Somers had been courageously fighting an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years. Her family will commemorate her remarkable life in a gathering scheduled for Monday, with a private family burial to follow later this week. A memorial is set for the upcoming month.
The California native, born Suzanne Marie Mahoney, gained fame for her portrayal of Chrissy Snow on the 1970s sitcom “Three’s Company” and later as Carol Foster Lambert on the ’90s family comedy “Step by Step.”
Beyond her acting career, Somers became a prominent infomercial spokeswoman for the Thighmaster and authored self-help books, such as “Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones.”
Suzanne Somers’ passing comes shortly after she revealed her breast cancer had returned. She had a history of battling cancer, including skin cancer in her 30s and uterine “severe hyperplasia.”
Her journey was marked by adversity, having grown up in a challenging environment as the child of an alcoholic. Despite these difficulties, she rose to prominence and became a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
Somers leaves behind a legacy of resilience and is survived by her husband Alan, her son Bruce, stepchildren Stephen and Leslie Hamel, and six grandchildren, including her granddaughter Camelia, known for her work on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
