A House Of My Own

A House Of My Own

A House of My Own

Not a flat. Not an apartment in back. Not a manโ€™s house. Not a daddyโ€™s. A house all my own. With my porch and my pillow, my pretty purple petunias. My books and my stories. My two shoes waiting beside the bed. Nobody to shake a stick at. Nobodyโ€™s garbage to pick up after. Only a house quiet as snow, a space for myself to go, clean as paper before the poem.

Bibliobibuli (n): Those Who Read Too Much

Bibliobibuli n Those Who Read Too Much

Bibliobibuli

(n): Those who read too much.

Coined by H.L. Menken in 1957: “There are people who read too much: bibliobibuli. I know some who are constantly drunk on books, as other men are drunk on whiskey or religion. They wander through this most diverting and stimulating of worlds in a haze, seeing nothing and hearing nothing”.
