Pretensions

Pretensions
Pretensions
How much did you loved,
Looking like the person you adored!
Dressing the same as them,
Talking just like you’re their clone!
And in between all these pretensions,
Did you forget to be yourself?
Did your own rich self got lost in the race of the herds?
Did you find yourself withering away?
Then just when you realised,
What they did to you,
And even if now you feel like,
Grasping the crux of your inner self,
Just hold on,
Don’t let go of what you are,
To become someone else.
Let yourself bloom to the fullest,
And a day will come,
When looking in the mirror with your best smile,
You will proudly say,
I love you!
