You suck at everything you loser!!!

She screeched at the top of her voice, he stood there stoically taking all abuse in his stride calmly,
he took her gently in his arms….
She sobbed, mumbling sorry, I didn’t mean to darling.

Shh!!! Was all he said, stroking her hair tenderly…
They’d been married for 10 years with no kids.
He was an engineer and she was a teacher at a local school, they’d met and fallen for each other almost instantly.

She saw the kids at school and it gnawed at her insides.
She felt him growing farther and fought to keep him, she was suspecting him of seeing someone …
The late night chats, the silent calls, and his long absences.

He became more elusive and she became clingy and possessive….
The fights continued.

She became edgy and more emotional by the day as he became more aloof. Ignoring her pleas to spend time together…
His behavior was impeccable and she just couldn’t fault him anywhere, but something was very wrong.

She resigned and stayed home, unkempt, the house was in shambles soon after…
He was home less and less.
Her aggression grew and in a fit of anger attacked the neighbor’s child, resulting in an arrest.
She was found guilty of the charges but mentally imbalanced,
hence was now to stay at a facility.

He left her there, as he walked away to see her vacant eyes, he felt no remorse, no sadness, nothing at all, he was free of a wife to whom he had no intentions of paying any alimony to.
Now she was kept behind a door with a huge lock.

The key to which, he did not want to find ever…
He was free at last, to live with his lady love.

Their fates were locked.

The taste of blood and sand was that of prison bars. Before I can quench the thirst from this bitter aftertaste, another slap topples me over – this time, coming from my grandmother. “You little monster! Fighting other kids again!” The words still sting and the sight of the attic, my annual jailhouse ten years ago, never failed to suffocate me.

As a kid, I was too much. I constantly felt the need to gather the intensity of my emotions and get them out of my system. I had no hinge, no clasp, no anchor to hold me in place. Not until the lock in the attic was made — a lock specially designed to contain the chaos that is me.

Over time, I learned to suppress my rage. I mastered the art of locking myself up whenever things get too much. But within the finite space of my self-constructed prison, dark necessities manage to seep through. They cling to the four walls that outline my detachment, sliding down until they reach me. Still, I no longer search for the Key as I did multiple times when I was a child.

“Grandmother, I hope you’re proud. I’ve locked myself up and I’ve locked the demons with me inside.”

I heard voices, laughter then came in I tried to open my eyes but I saw darkness I tried to scream but my voice was being seized I must be dreaming I must be dreaming my mind keeps telling me….

Hours passed my mind was doing the trick, I saw a little light I ran towards it and saw I was locked, I peeked through the hole and just saw the sky….

I hit and hit and hit till the door opened. Then I ran like a free bird but I ran straight into the ocean..then my world went dark…

Suddenly I woke up in a banana bed and I saw two babies on top me…. and was killer shocked but I kept quiet…I wasn’t understanding what they were saying.

“ooh baby you have finally wake up”
I heard a voice saying…I looked up and saw a tall slender man smiling at me…. I looked at the man and looked at the baby they were all smiling and all that…..

“who are you guys”
I said with a coarse voice…

A closeup of the lock of a jail cell with iron bars and a bunch of key in the locking mechanism with the door open

“ooh baby you just got out of prison…you were locked up for months”
I looked at him strangely….lock??? How

How did you get into the wed lock? Asked her granddaughter. The old couple looked at each other and smiled.

The grand father said – ‘you say where it all started, hon’

The grandmother blushed ripe and said ‘No, you say’

The granddaughter said’ ok, that’s enough romance, someone say it now ‘

The grandfather took a pause to get the sentences right in his mind, blame it on old age.

His eyes had the sparkle of a 25-year-old young man.

I was 25 and she was 23 years old. We were starting to like each other. But, we had never said it out loud.

The weather was beautiful that day. Gentle chills, damp grass, sound silence, a wooden bench where we sat next to each other.

She said with pure childlike innocence ‘ you know what! I saw a beautiful rainbow yesterday and showed me the picture that she had taken of it. Her eyes twinkled in joy.

I said ‘ ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! that’s beautiful’

She being in her most poetic self-said ‘She visits me every time there is rain. All I need to do is just open my window and there she waits for me. I don’t have to search for her. ‘

‘ I am jealous’, I said.

She looked at me with a grim smile because she thought I was jealous that she saw the rainbow which I could not.

I told her ‘ I am jealous not because I could not see her (rainbow). I am jealous that she saw your beautiful smile which I could not’

Our eyes got locked in perfect harmony. I saw your grandmother smile in her fullest being. We came closer and kissed for the first time.

The 70-year-old held his wife’s hand and looked at her. They had come a long way.

The granddaughter learned how beautiful love could be.

Again there were butterflies in her stomach when she could feel his eyes on her. After him, it was ‘HE’ who could make her feel the same way.Yet, it wasn’t a moment of pure bliss.Somewhere at the corner of her heart, there emerged an agonizing pain that was spreading quickly as if it would choke her..She was PERCEIVING her FEARS as PAIN..most terrific fears like 1.will my second marriage prove that I am deceitful to my first one?2.will he look after my kids like his own??? and it went on..and on..Yet he gave the best ever medicine he could. HIS TRUST!! His trust was the key to unlock her door of happiness…A HEARTLOCKED WIDOW turned into a SOULFREED BRIDE!!
