Which Game of Thrones House Do You Belong In?

When we think of Game of Thrones, we can’t help but think of some of the most powerful and noble houses defending the 7 kingdoms.

Each of the houses has a different motto and war cry that distinguishes itself from others.

Families belonging to a particular house are known for having unique traits. Whether it’s strength and dignity or wit and charm or fearlessness and honor or dishonesty or cunningness, they all share one or more traits that make them a unit.

The 7 houses of Game of Thrones and their mottos you need to know:

1. House Targaryen: “Fire and Blood”

The Targaryen lineage may have mostly died out, save for Daenerys, but she is representing it hard. She brings in the House motto to cap off a thrilling monologue in season two. It’s also used as the episode title of the season one finale, where Daenerys memorably emerges from the fire that burned Khal Drogo’s body, with her newborn dragons.

2. House Stark: “Winter Is Coming”

There are layers of meaning in the phrase; as cold as it appears in the North, it actually hasn’t been Winter in years, and the Stark’s saying is a reminder that Winter (and thus, hardship, darkness, maybe war) must be anticipated and prepared for.

3. House Greyjoy: “What Is Dead May Never Die”

Technically, the Greyjoy motto is “We Do Not Sow,” but on the show, the iron born phrase “What Is Dead May Never Die” is more commonly used. It’s the title of episode three in season two, when Theon is baptised back at the Iron Islands to show his loyalty to his family, and Theon utters it after taking Winterfell in the season two finale. It also comes up in season six when Euron wins the Kingsmoot and he’s baptised. The words have even more significance when Euron appears to drown but doesn’t.

4. House Lannister: “A Lannister Always Pays His Debts”

Like the Greyjoy motto, the debt saying has overtaken the books’ official motto of “Hear Me Roar” (a reference to their lion sigil) on the show. While it almost sounds like the wealthy Lannisters make good on what they owe, the snarky way it’s uttered (like when Tyrion spits it at a guard in season one) makes it more of a warning to their enemies.

5. House Bolton: “Our Blades Are Sharp”

I think we all wish that the motto of the Boltons — now officially headed up by evil sadist Ramsay — wasn’t quite so on the nose. The House sigil is that awful flayed man (also the family’s unfortunate pastime), and as we are all far too familiar, Ramsay loves slicing and dicing people. Let us also never forget that it’s Roose Bolton who stabs Robb Stark at the Red

6. House Tyrell: “Growing Strong”

The motto of the family that includes Queen Margaery, Lady Olenna, and Loras could certainly be used right now, with both Loras and Margaery imprisoned by the Sparrows.

7. House Martell: “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken”

Unfortunately for many of the Martell clan, like Oberyn (whose head is crushed in season four), Doran (who is assassinated by Ellaria in the season six premiere), and Trystane (also murdered by the Sand Snakes in the same episode), this motto is not exactly apt right now.

Have you ever wondered, if you were to be a part of the fantasy world of Game of Thrones, which house would you belong to?

Would you be from Stark family – which is known for being both fair and fearless?

Or would you belong to Targaryen family which is known for their fury and wrath that no one dares cross them?

Or would you belong to the Baratheons family which is known for overindulgence?

If you are curious to find out which house in the Seven Kingdoms you belong in, play on.

We wonder what will be your war cry after you’re done.
