A Broken Heart

You attached a string of hopes to the kite

And wanted it to fly high without a wind and daylight.

You built up a castle of loose sands

That only crumbled down with your hands.

You travelled across the starry nights in a paper boat

That only sank if you knew how long it could stay afloat.

I respected all your feelings were alright

Sometimes we cannot hold our emotions so tight.

Only if you had asked me about it from the start

It would not have left you with a broken heart.
