The 7 Chakra Personality Types: Which One Are You?

chakra personality

Your chakra personality will lead you towards your life’s goal and enable you to build a successful, happy and satisfying life.

Some people may be high achievers while some others are rather content with their stable day jobs. Some people may be more driven to create art while some others may be more spiritual and not at all amused by materialistic accomplishments. But why?

If we are all created equal, why do we seem to be so different in our personalities, attitudes, mindsets and goals?

This definitely has to do with your personality type, but not necessarily the 16 science-based types of personalities. It all depends on your personality based on the 7 Chakras.

Understanding your chakra personality can be exceptionally beneficial for your life. Not only will you find out where you belong and what special abilities you possess, you will also get a clear idea about what purpose you serve in life.

What Is A Chakra?

“The chakras are not only vortexes of energy, they are also centers for psychic reception.” – Catherine Carrigan

Our universe is formed of energy and we are no exceptions. Ancient cultures recognized that all living beings were made of a life force or “Prana” or “Qi” and these energy centers powered us from the inside.

These centers of energy are known as the 7 chakras which enable us to achieve physical, mental, energetic, and spiritual balance. Understanding the 7 chakras will help you synchronize with your natural energy cycles.

Chakras can simply be described as circular vortexes of energy that are located in 7 different places across the spinal column. All of these chakras are directly connected with different glands and organs in our bodies. Although most of us are familiar with the 7 chakras, in reality, there are a total of 114 chakras in the human body. Moreover, there are 72,000 energy channels or “nadis” through which our “prana” or vital energy flows.

The chakras, which are the foundation of our human existence, are an ancient concept found in Hinduism, originating in India around 1500-500 BC. The chakras are also a crucial part of Tantric Buddhism. Chakra is a Sanskrit term that can be literally translated into “wheel” or “circle”. These specific centers of energy begin at the crown of your head and culminate at the base of your spine.

Chakras control each and every aspect of our body and impact everything from mental strength, physical abilities to emotional processing.

How The Chakras Determine Your Personality

“The energy body acts as a bridge connecting our physical and spiritual bodies. In order for us to influence the transformation of the body and mind, we must first learn to transform the energy flow.” – Ilchi Lee

The different chakra personalities offer different perspectives on who we are and how we look at life, the world, and the universe. Although all of us possess all the 7 chakras, one of the chakras is usually more dominant and active than the others.

The active chakra regulates your preferences, inclinations, passions, values, and attractions more than the less active chakras. Our dominant chakra determines our personality and how we can live a meaningful and purposeful life.

Each of the 7 chakras has a unique personality and understanding them can help us to understand our innermost selves and appreciate others as well.

Every soul or personality is different from the other, even though they may share the same active chakra and personality traits. These innate individual flavors are energetically manifested as different patterns of actions, interests and pursuits in these 7 chakras.

The 7 chakra personality types are an excellent tool that allows us to know about our own multifaceted and complex personalities. Understanding your dominant chakra can enable you to realize underlying patterns, focus on self-development, and live a happy & fulfilled life.

The 7 Chakra Personality Types

7 Chakra Personality Types by Shai Tubali

“You can relieve pain and suffering by learning to take better care of your chakras.” – Catherine Carrigan

There are 7 types of personalities based on the 7 primary chakras. According to author Shai Tubali, this is an ancient concept evident in ancient chakra scriptures. So what are the 7 types of chakra personalities?

Before we delve into the 7 chakra personalities, it should be mentioned that these 7 types of personalities are broadly categorized under 3 major types of personalities:

A. Material-earthly types

B. Emotional-communicative types

C. Mental-spiritual types

Here is a quick overview of the different types of chakra personalities:

A. Material-earthly types

Out of the 7 types of chakra personalities, the first three chakras come under the category of material-earthly types. Although people of this type are engaged mostly with the materialistic world, all of them have different and unique views and approaches.

1. The Builders – Root Chakra

“There is deep wisdom within our very flesh, if we can only come to our senses and feel it.” – Elizabeth A. Behnke

The builders are mainly interested in earthly matters and the material world including machines, substances, structures, and the laws and orders of the mortal world. They are the administrators of the smaller details of life. They are the ones in charge of building and supporting the infrastructures & structures of our community.

Builders cherish persistent work and hard labor. They are happy with following rules and sticking with established frameworks. Builders love the idea of settling down and abhor taking risks and adventures. They love being stable and being a part of a collective community like family, religions, nationalities, and lineages.

Although some of us may think of them as unimaginative or boring, the builders form the foundation of our society and believe in being stable, diligent, and progressive.

2. The Artists – Sacral Chakra

“Let’s not forget that the little emotions are the great captains of our lives and we obey them without realizing it.” – Vincent Van Gogh

The artists are passionate pleasure-seekers. They love life in its truest form and are driven by adventure and curiosity. As they feel profoundly and intensely, artists constantly seek new experiences and intense emotions. They love living in the extremes, whether it’s pathetic or wonderful. Peak experiences mean a lot to the artists as they prefer living in the moment without worrying too much about what the future holds.

The artists love spreading their wings but they do not stay in one place for long as they are constantly looking for new adventures. They don’t like to be tied up by the burdens of life and are reluctant to make commitments. They have the heart of a child and see life as a sensual, beautiful, and colorful experience that should be appreciated every moment. Although they can be disloyal & unreliable, artists add color into our lives through art, music, drama, beauty, laughter, and passion.

3. The Achievers – Solar Plexus Chakra

“Put your future in good hands – your own.” – Unknown

The achievers are the conquerors of the world. They are the warriors who are constantly focused on their next targets, goals, and destinations. They want to summit mountain peaks and raise their hands high when they reach the top. Challenges excite them as they love to go beyond their own mental boundaries and turn obstacles into opportunities.

Achievers are highly ambitious and are always focused on the finish line. They are motivated, energized, determined, and self-disciplined individuals who always need to be the best at what they do. They are the doers who feel most active and alive when they are too busy pursuing their goals. Status and success mean a lot to them and they can be so focused that they often ignore the smaller things in life.

Although they may appear as greedy, uncaring, possessive, and materialistic workaholics, achievers lift our society to new heights. They are often the personification of willpower and self-discipline.

B. Emotional-communicative types

The next two types of chakra personalities fall in this category. These are the ones who experience the world with their emotions and imaginations. These types of personalities are intensely passionate about feelings, relationships, and communication. They build bridges between the outer and inner worlds.

4. The Caretakers – Heart Chakra

“Kindness is the greatest wisdom.” – Unknown

Caretakers are emotional beings. The only thing that is important to them in life is love and relationships. Being delicate and sensitive, caretakers are driven by their hearts. They love building intense and passionate relationships with someone special or with a small group of people. They believe that the true experience of life is to build and share genuine intimacy with another human being. They primarily focused on building connections, relationships, and unions with other like-minded people.

Caretakers are highly compassionate, gentle, and generous who love devoting their attention to someone special. Their heart helps them navigate through the highs and lows, truths and lies of life. Although caretakers may appear highly emotional, attached, and naive, they are the ones who spread the love around the world. These nurturing souls teach us that life is not about how much you have accomplished but how much your heart has loved.

5. The Speakers – Throat Chakra

“To speak and ‘to speak’ well are two things. A fool may talk, but a wise man speaks.” – Ben Jonson

They are inspired people with grand ideas. Speakers are driven by their dreams and visions and are highly passionate about inspiring other people and the world at large. They look at the bigger picture and are in love with ideas & thoughts that can change life as we know it. The speakers are often dreamy and idealistic which makes them unable to connect with the present realities of life.

They are magnetic leaders and charismatic messengers who spread their visions, optimism, and perceptions to inspire others around them. They understand people and what they need and as a result, people tend to keenly listen to our influential speakers. Being focused on the future, they are often unrealistic and have wishful thinking which prevents them from taking practical steps towards accomplishing their goals.

Although they may seem rigid, manipulative, and controlling, they are the ones who share valuable ideas, wisdom, and knowledge with others to make our society better.

C. Mental-spiritual types

The last two types of chakra personalities come under this category. These types of individuals mostly operate on a spiritual level. They translate ideas and experiences into principles. Their thoughts and perceptions are usually abstract and are less world-oriented.

6. The Thinkers – Third Eye Chakra

“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.” – Florence Scovel Shinn

They observe the world and the human experience closely to gain a better understanding of the human mind and the universe at large. However, they may tend to forget that they themselves are human beings who need to learn about life through physical experiences.

The thinkers are dedicated to uncovering the answers to the biggest mysteries of life. They are always keen on learning new things and gaining knowledge. Being excellent listeners and inherently silent, these personality types are usually avid readers, researchers, writers, philosophers who love to think about and share their unique observations, perceptions, and original thoughts.

Always focused on finding solutions to life’s problems and mysteries, the thinkers believe that the real essence of life lies beyond our physical existence. They are excellent observers who can easily feel mentally drained and burnt out. Although they may seem arrogant, unapproachable, impractical, unemotional, and detached, they show us the value of the individual by sharing novel ideas, scientific discoveries, and philosophies with the world.

7. The Yogis – Crown Chakra

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Being the most spiritual chakra personalities, the yogis focus their energy inwards. They are natural-born recluses and monks who are keen on studying our inner worlds and alternate realms of reality. They are priests from the heart who are naturally inclined to renunciate the materialistic world. Even though they might not live in monasteries or caves, they will live like a recluse turning their homes into a personal ashram.

The yogis are introverts who aren’t bothered by the problems of the material world. They live a spiritual life striving hard to understand their identity as a true spirit in the vast universe. These individuals usually have trouble finding or keeping a job, become financially successful, maintaining relationships, and face the real problems of life.

They are meditators by nature and belong to the spiritual realm. They believe that our reality is a test that prepares our soul to progress to the spiritual dimension. They are keener on pursuing a simple life than being successful in the materialistic sense.

Although they may seem evasive, weak, lazy, and irresponsible, they are spiritual creatures who teach us inner peace and wisdom can be attained through reflection and silence.
